I would like to give thanks
tonight, to DU. And to the DUers who post and ridicule, and defend, and attack, and are activists, and have very often bowed to me as well as kicked me in the behind while I bowed to them.

I finally had enough of one of my children, who does not bother to read the forwards received, and sent the one that made me flip my cork a very insulting, caustic and and totally enjoyed assessment of the forward.

The source was Newsmax. If I had sent it to Newsmax, my children might still be speaking to me, but the one who sent it to me also forwarded it to forty other people. So I replied all and am now on the family shit list.

One of the family members apparently almost had a stroke over my response, and, since I, me, actually said, bull shit (pardon the word) and offended a young one, I am now a pariah.

I am now persona non grata to three of my registered democrat children, and my one registered republican son. I am in the same position with my step-son, step daughter, ex-husband. I was already there with respect to my step-in-laws, who rejected my folksy, family letters after learning I had become a (ewwwwww) democrat.

You are now my family, and I am glad you live and I wish you well.

1. I say congratulations.
Though your children might not have chosen the path you would like, you have raised them to think on their own. The rest is up to them from this point. All you can do is stick to your values and keep the truth out there. :)

4. You're not alone ...
I know it will still hurt but you're not alone. My husband and his only brother had a parting of the ways a year ago over very similar circumstances. Further, I'm not visiting my home (Parents, Brothers, Nephew etc) in Arizona because they are all "I loves my Pres-I-dent!" budding neo-con wannabes. I couldn't maintain a thoughtful demeanor and they can't stop themselves from posturing right-wing sentiments.

I love my family but "Bush's world" has separated us more so than ever before. Although I speak to my mother weekly, I have to ask her to stay off politics, especially how much she loves Babs. <mega yuck>

Although I'm fairly new to this board, I wanted to convey that your family trials and tribulations over politics are felt by a number of us here. :-)

2. Get Up Stand Up, lapauvre!
You have done nothing wrong. You (like I) are Of An Age where you don't have to worry about what other people may think of you, no matter how dear those folks are. (Easy to say, I know)

Things will be different come the Day After Election. And between now and then, your family is going to have some SERIOUS moments of doubt and revulsion about their boy bu$h. They are clinging to straws becuase it's all they have left.

In the meantime, you have my BEST wishes!!!!

:loveya:

3. There are two types of people in this wonderful world...
People who can take a joke (most of them)-They're OK
People who can't take a joke (sounds like you're surrounded by these)-Fuck 'em!
Look at it this way: Instead of looking at this as a bad thing, revel in your pariah status, it has certainly served me well! :hippie: :toast: :hi:

7. You are not alone, please keep that in mind.
I was just at a family function where various ones were discussing Reagan and his grandeur. One member said that if he (the family member) was the president he would blow away Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, all of them. He would kill all of those "sand n-------". Well, that definitely didn't sit well with me and I told him "you just can't go around blowing up countries for no reason" and of course he said they killed 3000 of ours all those "sand n--------" got to go. I left shortly there after.

I have female members of the family who think that Dubya is sexy (it makes me cringe just to type that - yuck!)

Any way, take comfort in knowing that you are helping others fight evil, your participation here does not only help you, it helps everyone of us. It is comforting to know that we are not alone and that others share our love of this nation and a concern for mankind.

I'll say prayers for you, I hope things get better and you find peace.

(When I get emails from my pro-war, pro-Dubya friends, I email them back and ask that they please refrain from sending the propaganda. I tell them I cherish their friendship too much to allow politics to get in the way, but if they persist, they will hear my views and they won't appreciate it.)
