8:11a.m.RW caller on C-Span: I don't care what they do to the prisoners.
I don't care about US image. Faux news (Rita something) said that Guantanamo is wonderful, wonderful... they get korans!!!!!!
They are the enemy.
Hirsh (Newsweek) said: the caller doesn't know what she is talking about..

Hirsh went on raids with soldiers in Iraq: they basically admitted
they were arresting any male of possible military age (no evidence of wrongdoing needed).

1. Utter stupidity
I have heard this kind of crap from quite a few right-wingers. It was nothing, I tell you! If your son was decapitated, blah blah blah.

The desperation is really getting unseemly.

2. Hirsh is now saying that many things might come up in
court martials for the soldiers. They have the right to ask for documents/witnesses from a broader and broader circle, potentially all the way to the president...

Faux News is THEIR "Bible" of cable news. If Murdoch says it's true, it's true. <sigh> Guantanamo is wonderful? <sigh>

You are risking the lives of Americans.
You don't believe the military investigation???? they are doing a good job, aren't they? Just let them do their job and not talk about it.

7. Executive power question: Bush wants HIS power to trump every
law, including international law.
Yoo has been besieged by protests in Berkeley. Yoo is a rightwinger that gives short shrift to international law. (WOW, JUST THE PERSON TO ASK FOR A LEGAL OPINION ON INTERNATIONAL LAW!!!!)

14. Caught tail end of this -*thought this had been settled at Runnymeadd*
about the divine right of Kings!

Not about Bush but don't you suppose when they got off the air, Mr. Hirsh laughed his butt off about the FBI-Killed-My-Motorcyle-Clubbing-Hub-And-Raped-And-Tortured-Me woman. He handled that answer very well.

13. I'll Ask This Again...Where's The World Court?
I know, they're still trying to let Bushyboy dance his way out of this mess, but enough is enough. It's obvious the Geneva Conventions have been abused and war crimes have and are being committed, what makes the U.S. any different than Serbia or Cuba??? I know $$$$...but there's gotta be someone with compassion on the world stage to get the ball moving.

The causes of this invasion and the occupation must be opened to investigation as it has created a crisis of global proportions that not only send American men and women off to their deaths in an unwinnable war, but has created a near certainty this country will be hit again by some Islamic terrorist action and a new cycle of violence will ensue. Someone needs to put some reality into this situation.

OK...I'll go get some coffee, and I'll feel better...honest. I'm OK, Really!!!

Bush would bomb their country, issue sanctions against them, personally threaten them or SOMETHING evil. "You're either with us or you're against us." People fear this regime. THIS is exactly what the PNAC planned. Hegemony. World Power feared the world over. :grr:

Iran.
Saying "let's not forget that Iran held our diplomats for over 400 days...."
He doesn't know what we did to Iran for decades, does he? Maybe even if he knew he wouldn't care ... sigh....

countries with nuclear weapons which use terrorism as a tool against other countries... does it sound familiar?? Of course, he is justifying a possible attack on Iran.

And he doesn't even realize this irony...

21. CSpan And Right Wing callers
The Republicans who call C-Span are stupid! One guy from Texas calls all the time and makes the most absurd statements. There is also Victor of Silver Spring maryLand who once blamed a feminist group for his wife leaving him. There is also a guy in Florida and another guy in Va. Why people want to spend their own money to show the nation what fools they are is beyond me. After listening to these callers, I think we have the most ignorant Republicans in history.

24. We have always had ignoramuses...
but they haven't always had so many forums in which to spout their nonsense! That's what gets me: stupid, uninformed opinions are taken as seriously as thoughtful ones (and I'm not just talking about ones I agree or disagree with, either, I mean idiotic, unsupported opinions) by call-in shows and man-on-the-street interviews.

23. The Geneva Convention and other similar agreements were not about
establishing ourselves as a civilized society, it was about protecting OUR soldiers should they become prisoners of war. When we signed those agreements, we were essentially saying that we won't hurt your P.O.W.s if you don't hurt ours. Can you imagine how much bloodier the next Middle East War will be because our primarily controlled Republican government have shown themselves for the barbarians they are? You can kiss good-bye the Private Lynches and Shoshona Johnsons of the next war.

than watching some guy get his head cut off with a dull knife?

What more can they do to us? I suppose they could strip them naked and then cut their heads off with a duller knife and then drag them threw their streets in success

30. I don't get why people are so outraged. Vicious conduct occurs here all
the time. We have rapists, serial killers, and child molesters running around throughout the country and we're outraged over some guy getting his head hacked off. Where's the outrage for the drumbeat of violence that is being conducted by our own citizens?

It's acceptable when it's women and minorities and children because then it's just crime, but TERRORISM is beyond the pale. What a bunch of hypocrites.

Watching was such TORTURE, wasn't it?

They're torturing US, now, right? That seems to be the latest right wing spin--and there are always receptive minds for that sort of thing, aren't there?

"What more can they do to us"--um, nothing at all, they are a conquered and occupied nation, but let's get the hell out of their country and maybe those mean people will leave us alone.
