AP: McCain Rejects Kerry's VP Overture
"Kerry has asked McCain as recently as late last month to consider becoming his running mate, but the Arizona senator said he's not interested, said a Democratic official who spoke on condition of anonymity because Kerry has insisted that his deliberations be kept private. A second official familiar with the conversations confirmed the account, and said the Arizona senator made it clear he won't change his mind."

OK. Explain to me again how Kerry came from way back in the pack to to get the democratic nod to run for the presidency? Something didn't seem right then and still doesn't now. Is kerry the neo-con's back up plan?

Facts here, not flame posts.

1. If this was to remain hush-hush until the nomination was released,
who in the name of halliburton leaked it out now that it's failed?

Given neo-con philosophy, if Kerry did get McCain to be veep, and win the election, would Kerry's days as Prez be numbered?

But that's pointless conjecture.

The only way to know what the truth is, is to call everyone who voted in the Primaries and ask who they voted for - and hope they answer truthfully (or even just answer).

2. Way more people voted for Kerry
in the primaries, than for any one of the other candidates. Many people voted for him, because they recognized he was more likely to beat bush in November than were any of the other candidates. While early on, Dean roused the conscience of the democratic party, and attracted many from the left who might not otherwise have considered voting for a democrat, he lost momentum.

Part of his loss of momentum came as a result of the debates. As more democrats began to pay serious attention to the primaries, and recognized that bush could indeed be beat in 2004, one issue stood out. The republican party had since 1972 been able to capitalize on military strength issues. Democrats knew they needed someone who more than matched bush in this area. While Clark may have been a more obvious choice in this area alone, Kerry ended up the better campaigner at that point in the primaries.

3. 1 McCain was never gonna be the VP 2. Kerry campaigned hard and good

1. McCain was never going to be the VP. McCain and Kerry worked a rumor that a) messed with Karl Rove's mind b) telegraphed to independent voters and disenchanted Repugs that Kerry was not a close minded ideologue (like GWB). Please note that McCain has categorically denied he was ever offered the VP>

2. I am in Iowa and this is what happened here. Kerry campaigned his butt off to get the nomination. He fired his crappy campaign manager and staff and hired Ted Kennedy's people. He got really serious about it. They honed his stump speech. He busted his butt around Iowa. He was everywhere. He spent time with people. They liked him, they liked what he said. Teresa was out there too - whereever Kerry wasnt, Teresa was - in diners, at women's clubs, etc. People really liked her too.

The first Kerry event I went to was right after veterans day. There were about 60 people there. I was deciding between Dean and Kerry. Kerry blew me away, he was really good, what he said made sense, it was moving, half the people there were in tears,

I talked to my friends. I sent them to rallys I took a few of them to rallys. They liked what they heard, they talked to their friends and took them to rallys. I was not the only talking to my friends (and the campaign was really encouraging that too)

The last Kerry rally I went to in my smallish town had several thousand. At the end, John Kerry stayed until every individual who wanted to talk to him was able to talk to him.

PSS. If you read about the history of John Kerry campaigns, you will read that he is a strong closer. He is strategic about it, he maximizes his campaign to when people are paying attention.

PSSSSS no he is not a NEO_CON.
