Why do repubs think we dems have to be "tolerant" of
them when they are hateful, divisive, racist, homophobic, sexist, anti-choice, and all that?

I heard a republican on the radio today whining, really whining, that the democrats in town aren't "tolerant" of him & his ideas (apparently he ascribes to all of the things I set out above) like they "claim to be."

My "tolerance" ends with racisim, sexism, homophobia, and the like.

Would I have been "tolerant" of Hitler and his ilk? of those who killed Matthew Shepherd? or dragged James Byrd behind the pickup truck?

Whine all you want, repubs, but I'm not being hypocritical by not be tolerant to those who are hateful and whose ideas are killing this country.

Do you all ever hear hateful assholes whining that you're not be "tolerant" of them?

1. It's ridiculous. A lot of Republicans blame everyone, whine, and complain
all the time. One of the things they always complain about is being disrespected. They're like playground bullies who cry when they stub their toe chasing a little kid. Then they blame the little kid for running away and making them stub their toe.

2. Yes
And don't even fucking get me started. I am smack in the middle of being told to be tolerant of sexist assholes as we speak. Your words couldn't have come at a better time!

3. Letting them frame the argument is the first mistake.
By claiming we are being intolerant by not tolerating their intolerance.

Sorry, but that argument doesn't fly with me.

4. I believe it was the repubs
who began the negative campaigning that has turned our political discourse into a mud-slinging, lowest common denominator issue, kind of thing.
They sure can't take it when someone doesn't want to here THEIR side, but they're the first to scream treason or lack of patriotism when someone disagrees with them.:eyes:

5. Umm...
... remember the line, "bipartisanship is the equivalent of date rape."

It's all part of the program. Just another way of winning votes by telling people we don't play fair....

shut being tolerant down. (hehe) No, seriously. Rightwingers are not tolerant...they want it their way (or no way at all), so they try and stop anyone that doesn't fit into their thinking..ergo, they want tolerance for themselves to be intolerant of others.

I've very open-minded...except with closed-minded individuals...of which I have no tolerance for. :)

8. Why don't we ask the weak-kneed Dems who still think....
bipartisanship is possible?
It drives me crazy every time I hear some Dem lending credence to the notion that Bush is such a great guy, such a man of faith, so charming, so sincere.
It's about time they abandon that insanity and start calling a spade a spade -- The Repukes don't credit Kerry with anything, yet we're still supposed to swallow this crap.

11. It's the latest Orwellian nonsense from the right.
They like to say that we are intolerant because we will not tolerate intolerance.

I admit it. I am intolerant of hatred, bigotry , greed, homophobia, sexism, racism etc.
