Stem Cell Research vs. Weapons Development
Is hypocricy a human ailment, an American ailment, a Western Civilization aiment, or a Christian ailment? Probably, I would guess, all of the above? I have been so flabbergasted at these people who are running around, Bush and his obedient, servant wife included, railing against embryonic stem cell research. Not because I can't understand their religious beliefs, (even though they're not my beliefs, I try to understand the beliefs of others as much as I can and my belief is that people should practice their own beliefs on themselves and not the rest of us), but because these are the same people who are so anxious to go to war, to perpetuate shock and awe, to torture, maim and murder, to kill abortion doctors and to develop weapons of mass murder. These are the same people who lobby against gun control and don't care to monetarilly discipline incompetent doctors, but will kill you for killing an embryo - artificially conceived, no less and unwanted - the size of a pencil point.

I really don't get it.

Edited on Sun Jun-13-04 09:29 PM by xray s
it had two bumber stickers. The first said "Take my gun? OK, Bullets first" and the other said "Abortion kills a beating heart"

Go figure...

3. They're not the Republican party any more.
Now they're the Gotterdammerung party. They ought to just admit it: they're in love with death.

4. It's true, these are not the Repubs of your grandpas day...
These guys have come out of some Aryan Nation Handbook. In terms of being Christians, well these guys have defiled a great religion just like the radical islamists have done with their own faith.

There is NOTHING writtent that gives this much weight to abortion. I remember when the RWer's didn't want so many, especially "people of color", having enormous families and PROMOTED birth control! I don't know where, exactly, this anti abortion thing came from, but I remember when it started. It's ridiculous. These people ought to read their bibles THOROUGHLY to see just what's in there about such issues. It's a non starter.

As for war; again, there has always been a segment of the Christian faith through the ages that has been over zealous about their religion--completely OVERLOOKING the peace messages of Christ himself.

Thankfully, there have been a few who follow the religion who are against war, such as the Quakers and Amish and such like those. Some don't even want anything to do with the whole of society at all but rather want to just live in simple peace and self sufficiency.

I think what we are seeing today is a bastardization of Christianity much like it was in Hitler's Germany in the 1930's. :scared:
