3. Gore is 100% correct, and then some
I feel like the meaning of America has changed. I get a sinking feeling whenever I see * speechifying in front of some monumnetal patriotic backdrop, saying words like freedom. It turns the stomach, because I know what has been happening in the gulags. I see the stars and stripes, and I hear the words, "But I believe in torture, and I will torture you."

I wonder how many DUers feel the same.

5. I had a visceral reaction when I first saw Bush* on TV
even before I heard him speak. I KNEW he was evil. Pure, untinctured EVIL.

I still feel the same.

We are talking about Bush*, aka Smirk. We are not describing Al Gore. I used to believe * was merely a simpleton. Now I despise him. His smirk is emblematic of his cruelty. Opihimoimoi compared *'s smirk to Mussolini's.

don't get me wrong, I believe he is largely correct in critizising *. However, I will say that military adventurism and flaunting international conventions have been the standard of this country since 1898 at the latest, we only had a relative break in this when Clinton was in office, little military adventurism there for strictly business interests. Bush is simply returning us to the 'good times' of using the Military as the Hit Men of Big Business.

...but Gore's statement is anything but meaningless.

- While you would be correct in saying that the US has always misused our military and ignored some conventions when it was to their advantage...the US has held to many of these conventions since WWII and the so-called end of the cold war.

- The Geneva Conventions and nuclear non proliferation were among the most important. Bush* has chucked these aside because they interferred with his ILLEGAL plans in a phony war on terror.

- We wouldn't be in this mess if only a couple dozen Democrats had the nerve to speak up like Gore.

He was let down. He was warned by the DLC to quit sounding so populist, it is still at their website.

They did not back him up on the recount, including a guy named Penelas.

I listened and he sounded like a boring establishment tool. Granted, his platform was great, but his method of delivery was not as passionate as it is now and Joe Lieberman is a twit. I like the new "Dean" attitude, it gets your attention.

watch some of his speeches. That is just a right wing thing about Gore. Oh, he is too boring, where is the passion? He is just not exciting enough to be president. Fastfoward to 2004: Oh, Al Gore is insane. For a former Vice President to raise his voice at our president is over the top. He has blown his top.

You can't please everyone.

. . the mind of the analytical person - because I am one.

In his case he had many well-meaning high level strategists telling him what to do. He probably followed their advice, not trusting his insticts, and not wanting to jeopardize such an important task.

Perhaps he just doesn't have the gut level instincts that could give him the confidence to be in that position (or achieve it decisively). Just as I know I wouldn't. And just as I know Clinton did.

Here's hoping JK has it in spades.

If that were true, it would explain many of Bush*s actions. More likely, Gore said that Chalabi was "duping" the dope.
