"Not all the American bishops are with me" Bush
From Josh Marshall.....

<snip>
According to today's Times ...

In his recent trip to Rome, President Bush asked a top Vatican official to push American bishops to speak out more about political issues, including same-sex marriage, according to a report in the National Catholic Reporter, an independent newspaper.

In a column posted Friday evening on the paper's Web site, John L. Allen Jr., its correspondent in Rome and the dean of Vatican journalists, wrote that Mr. Bush had made the request in a June 4 meeting with Cardinal Angelo Sodano, the Vatican secretary of state. Citing an unnamed Vatican official, Mr. Allen wrote: "Bush said, 'Not all the American bishops are with me' on the cultural issues. The implication was that he hoped the Vatican would nudge them toward more explicit activism."

1. Church and state must be separate
for the protection of both.

2. If they are not "with him"...
...does that mean they are "against him", and if so, can the Vatican and several archdiosece <sp> soon expect bombing and invasion?

10. Haha! That was my first thought. I was thinking maybe Georgie thought
he might get a "bump" by televising pictures of US troops pulling down the Sistine Chapel.

:P

3. Boston Globe Had That Article In Today' Paper
Page 1 below the fold.

Just below that was an article about parishes fighting the parish closing announcements. Bush cannot depend on people accepting what the church tells them to do.

11. It's a relief
that "not all American bishops are with" Bush.

'Specially when all I hear is that Bush is such a moral president, such a good man, and he has god on his side.

But the bishops that are not with Bush... they must be the radical bishops, the ones that are in favor of separation of church and state. They aren't real bishops. Or at least, that which they preach should be ignored...
