The "coronation" of Rev. Sun Myung Moon as Messiah
Does anyone have anything more on this? How could people like Harold Ford and Sanford Bishop have been involved in this kind of bizarre madness?

Rev. Sun Myung Moon is a right wing psychotic. He is a seriously deranged and dangerous cult leader who has given many speeches claiming to be the Messiah, but to see with my own eyes that there were Democrats involved in physically crowning this madman as the "Messiah" in the Dirksen Senate office building makes me extremely angry. Moon is one step away from Jim Jones. There needs to be a serious investigation into what happened here. This is a serious, serious problem. If Moon has reached his freak-o cult tentacles into our party, we need to have a major purge - and fast.

1. This IS madness, except gadflyer broke that story long before other media
They're just catching up.

Just to back up a bit, I wonder how many RW people out there know that Moon owns the Washington Times? I wonder why mainstream media doesn't remind the public about that periodically? I guess because it's not new news.

I agree, I'm baffled that these politicians were there. Giving the benefit of the doubt, I wonder if they were invited under false pretenses?

8. No it's the whore factor. Rev. Moon gives huge chunks of money
to politicians so they have to kowtow to the "King". God, we have to reform our campaign finance system for real.

22. I called his office
here's a summary of about a half-hour discussion with his aide Ira:

-- Davis's only relationship with Moon is that Moon asked Davis to speak on two or three occasions about peace. Asked if Davis had a financial relationship with Moon, Ira hesitated and said "I haven't scoured the Congressman's fincancial records, but I don't know of any financial relationsip."

-- Davis does not share Moon's political positions, particularly anti-homosexuality, Davis has spoken recently in favor of gay rights.

-- Congressman don't coronate people, and Davis wouldn't be in any such ceremony.

-- The Congressman meets with a lot of people and he doesn't have to justify who he meets with.

-- Media reports are often incorrect, Ira said, they probably misreported the nature of the meeting. Asked if he knew the nature of the meeting, he said he didn't. Asked if he could find out and get back to me, he got very defensive and said he doesn't have to do that.

23. How very interesting.
Frankly why meet with someone like Moon if you are not receiving funding from him. The aide's reply to your question about financial support is troubling because he is not giving a firm no and he is not willing to get back to you with a definitive answer.

What do you make of it.

26. Davis *carried* the crown for the coronation
so, he didn't technicallly actually coronate Moon. I'm sorry to see a Dem go down, but this is plain wrong.

31. Since Moon supports the War Policies of the Religious Right...
Why would Davis accept an invitation from this Cult Leader to speak about peace?

Something is very wrong here, how could any Democrat even APPEAR to endorse the psychotic billionaire who owns the Washington times???

4. I'm not surprised by that gues list
Moon has been tucked into bed with the Bush family for a couple of decades, giving them huge eletoral and financial support, in return for favors around the world (like getting doors opened to start Moonie newspapers and businesses in Latin America). It's not surprising that his tentacles have ensnared a few other Congressmen.

Yes, this is incredibly disturbing, just one more bunch of spiderwebs leading to the Bush family. There has go to be a big, fat spider in there somewhere.

I think that Poppy mightily appreciated and appropriated Moonie brainwashing tactics for use in the CIA.

10. Why don't the right-wing fundamentalists object?
Kind of says something about their real loyalties, doesn't it?

I am not ignoring the fact, however, that there are some Dems apparently caught up in this too. What has come over them?

13. Shouldn't some Christians be testing this clown
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 04:46 PM by Cleita
about his claims to be the reincarnation of Jesus Christ, and the Second coming of the Messiah? The Buddhists just don't appoint anyone to be the Dalai Lama, without a barrage of tests, so Christians should demand the same of their Messiahs. The New Testament is as far as we need to go to find the tests. I favor that the Rev. Moon should offer to walk on water like Jesus did as proof of his claims. There are many other miracles Jesus performed before the Big One, His Resurrection, so we won't ask Rev. Moon for that one, but there are so many others, raising the dead, casting our demons, curing the sick.

C'mon Rev. we need proof.

He helped cast GWBush in the role of president.

;) Of course, I know you meant "cast OUT demons"

Funny, how many of those Christian leaders look the other way when it comes to Moon and even rely on his largesse.

21. Moon's objective is the destruction of America as you know it...
The Christian Reconstructionists play along because they believe that the Bible prophecies the same thing before Jesus returns after the Rapture...

Then they can "reconstruct" America as a theological paradise with the returned Messiah as King and Prophet. The Fundie whackos have proven to be able to rationalize any atrocious act as just "fulfilling God's plan"...

Strange bedfellows indeed...

were there, smiling benigninly and approvingly, applauding, rejoicing, and selling our country.
I cannot bear to go back to look, because IT IS TOO WEIRD and EXTREMELY WORRYING.

27. Oh my Godism!
"Moon's latest world tour calls on rabbis to repent for betraying Christ, the Jerusalem Post reported last week. Speaking in Arlington, VA in 2003, Moon said Hitler killed six million Jews as a penalty for this rejection. And he's frank about calling for democracy and the U.S. Constitution to be replaced by religious government that he calls 'Godism,' calling the church-state separation the work of Satan. 'The church and the state must become one as Cain and Abel,' he said in the same sermon."

When Xtians go bad, it's never pretty.

29. Likkud? Now I am confused!!
"He has also claimed, in newspaper ads taken out by the Unification Church, that Jesus, Confucius, and the Buddha have endorsed him. Muhammad, according to the 2002 ad, led the council in three cries of 'mansei,' or victory." Huh?

That man is seriously deranged. Has Mel Gibson considered crucifying him?
