it was Michael Hirsh senior editor for Newsweek. He was on C-Span talking about it. He said as the investigation progresses - it goes higher - mentioned Rumsfield.

snip...

The handling of al-Libi touched off a long-running battle over interrogation tactics inside the administration. It is a struggle that continued right up until the Abu Ghraib scandal broke in April—and it extended into the White House, with Condoleezza Rice's National Security Council pitted against lawyers for the White House counsel and the vice president. Indeed, one reason the prison abuse scandal won't go away—two months after gruesome photos were published worldwide—is that a long paper trail of memos and directives from inside the administration has emerged, often leaked by those who disagreed with rougher means of questioning.

4. They have consistently denied "approval"
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 10:16 AM by molly
I watched a replay yesterday on C-Span of asscrack's testimony on Tues. It was the second time I watched it and I caught more of it - the entire thing. He is trying to infer some sort of executive privilege saying that his correspondence with the WH is attorney client and he should not have to answer to anyone.

on edit - he is not denying the memos - just stating that they are noone's business - including congress.

7. The republican supreme court ruled during the Clinton era
that there is no attorney client privilege between a government attorney and a government employee. Let's see them reverse themselves on that now that it works against the GOP.
