My letter to Regal Cinamas, Re: F9/11
Edited on Mon Jun-14-04 07:51 PM by steviet_2003
Gentlemen and Ladies,

I live in {Suburban Chicago}, Illinois. I happen to be on the Plan Commission and have been for 14 years. When this particular theater was built by XXX XXXXX, it was promised as a window for our residents to be able to be in touch with the latest movies in the arts. We had no (and still don't have) another movie theater within a 20 minute drive. I voted to approve the construction of this theater as well as a subsequent addition after Mr. XXXXX sold it to Regal Cinemas. It is an important window in our community for our residents to stay current.

I strongly urge you to show Michael Moore's new film, Fahrenheit 9/11. Those who feel it too political do not have to attend but those who do not should have the ability to attend locally, to your company's great financial benefit. With our demographics and the paucity of alternatives I could almost guarantee you awesome sales at this location, and others as well.

I thank you all for your time in reviewing this letter and trust that you will take it to heart. I do not speak for my Village but I, personally, have never felt that supression of information and ideas has ever led to a more enlightened society. We all need to see all sides of a story. In addition, I am guessing that this film will do record numbers, you have a chance to get in on the initial release bloom, rather than picking up the crumbs left by those in my area who make that 20-30 minute drive in the first few weeks.

Thanks again.

XXXXXXXXX

Personally, even though I think they will cash in BIG time that was not my motivation, but I am sure it is theirs.

on edit: space bar, pry many others as well to come.

6. I live in Orange County, CA
and I don't think any Regal theatres are showing it here. Regal seems to own almost every theatre here, so the movie is playing at sort of random theatres. They were sure pushing Passion of the Christ, though.

8. Good letter!
And after the first weekend, when they see the box office sales - all these cinemas will be showing it! Otherwise they will miss out on a lot of cash.

I can't wait to see this movie.
