O' Christ, we beseech Thee, hold sway over Your zealous devotees

we ask Thee in reverence dear Lord, reach out to them, show them that there is no need to end the world to bring You back. please tell them that they can bring You back in spirit by simply following Your own words. we pray o Lord that they do not twist Your tenets and admonitions and turn Your face into the face of war.

we will bless the peacemakers, and help the poor like You asked, and we will do unto others as we would have them do unto us as You asked.
we will go humbly into the world, and we will study war no more.

but please, please Lord, if it's not asking too much, could You please grab them and smack them into reality and stop them before they burn the world in Thy holy name?

As in Jesus Christ who does not exist in any other religion besides Christianity. While I believe in the holy trinity, this was specifically addressed to 1 part of the trinity, not the whole. That part being the one that separates Christianity from other religions.

I know from some of your other posts that you are not religious but this is a very good post. It belongs on some other boards that are not so one sided as DU. It quite possibly could get some people to do some thinking. Surprisingly it is not irreverent and probably won't get panned to badly.

You know, back at the anti-Bush inauguration rally in Portland, there was a freeper fundie ranting about how we were all going to go to hell, and some of us liberal Christians formed a circle around him and began praying aloud that the demon of hatred might be removed from his heart.

He absolutely freaked. Even though there were about ten of us holding hands in a circle around him with everyone at least two or three feet away, he kept squealing, "Don't touch me! Don't touch me! It's assault if you touch me!"

It kind of makes one wonder if he really did have a demon of hatred in his heart.

What you were doing was already close to assault; if it could be claimed that you were doing it with an intent to menace, it IS assault. If you'd touched him, it's battery.

Once again, another zealot who's firmly convinced of what he knows, and he's WRONG.
