Kerry apparently refuses to let the Repubs corner the U.S. flag
Edited on Tue Jun-15-04 03:29 PM by Lex
Check it out! My flag is bigger than yours, Smirky!

"Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry stands in front of a large American flag as he addresses a crowd during a fund-raiser Tuesday, June 15, 2004, in Cincinnati."

from yahoo.com's photos from today

3. that made me laugh
Heh--after watching Bush's debacle today with Karzai, I have to laugh at this picture.

I only hope that Kerry does not embrace this PR stuff as a substitute for reality, which Bush does.

7. Nah--I think Kerry knows that he has to use symbols to
get the attention of those who pay attention only to such things.

Mainly I think he's just sick and tired of the Repukes trying to cast themselves as "more patriotic" than the Dems.

10. So am I.
We let them have the flag in Vietnam, and I'm not going to let them have it this time.

I put a flag decal on my back window next to my Clark bumpersticker, and now I have one next to my Kerry sticker.

Incidentally, Walgreens has a big sheet of clinging vinyl ones of several different sizes for $1.79.

You have to dig through the stack to find the ones that are not wavy, but they're there.

Sometimes it's hard to find flag decals, so this is a good time and place to get them.

I say we take back the flag.

12. Damn skippy.
I say we take back the flag too. Besides, the repukes have nearly broken it.

8. But unlike Dubya, Kerry ...
earned the right to stand in front of it -- well, actually, in my book, not by 'service' in Vietnam, rather by service in the peace movement post Vietnam.

The Onion recently had a headline something like: "Kerry's running mate to be younger, 1971 self."

11. You know what I noticed in all the films of Reagan last week?
For as much an emphasis on patriotism as he maintained, he rarely had a bank of flags behind him when speaking, as Bush invariably does.

Sometimes he would have one flag on a stand, like you'd have at a school, but never that garish display Bush/Rove insists on.

The difference, I guess, between an actor who believed in his part and a puppet.
