Jeff Smith, one of the original Dean's Dozen, is running on the slogan "If Ashcroft is for it, I'm probably against it."

In that spirit, he will be riding his bike 75 miles across the district to oppose the building of a cement plant that will greatly increase levels of pollution in St. Louis and affect air quality possibly as far north as Chicago. For those who argue that it will help the economy, the new plant will only add about 220 new jobs (about 5% of what St. Louis's favorite beer company employs).

Howard Dean will be kicking the event off.

Anyone in St. Louis, sign up to go see Howard Dean. Anyone outside of St. Louis, please forward the link for the bike ride to your local environmental groups.
