He resisted every opportunity to sell out and bag his true feelings.

My dad was no prize, but I loved him. That's what I'm getting from Ron. He loved his dad, but he's not afraid to call a wart a wart.

3. Lots of people have differences with loved parents
It's just that most people's parents' don't become icons of a particular point of view. He's fairly graceful in the way he deals with the contradictions.
