Ron Reagan put it "out there" that if Bush changes policy on stem cell
then Nancy will probably change her mind about appearing at the Repuke National Convention and speak about stem cell research.

Two Questions:

1) Will GW and his Klan change their stance?
2) If they do, will it hurt them more than help?

5. No, he won't
His stance on this issue is part of his religious fanaticism.

3. Risk alienating his fundie base for Nancy? Never happen.
Without evangelicals, Bush is toast. (I think he's toast, anyway, but that's another story.)

4. If he were to change his stance on this issue, he would be going against
a lot of his hard core religious base. He would also be committing the ultimate 'flip flop' of his pResidential career and it would become readily apparent to his supporters that he really cannot be trusted, something we know already.

Anyway, even if he did reverse his public stance on this issue, once he was back in office (although I don't think he will be) he would reverse himself immediately. Using Nancy Reagan wouldn't be below the guy simply because there's nothing that he won't stoop to.

6. We have a better chance of....
Seeing God in person than to ever see GWB change his stance on anything even after being shown factual information!

7. Bush is really stuck on this one.
If he changes his mind he loses the fundie base which he must have if he doesn't then he loses Nancy. The latter seems likely the bet.

8. bush* wouldn't dare change his position on this,
he'd lose the rabid fundy vote, and there would go ANY chance for his election.

9. Don't trust him, Nancy!
These people are
deal breakers
treaty breakers
agreement breakers
alliance breakers
partner breakers
- and - truth breakers.

They set up their partners on the thickest most luxurious carpets imaginable.....then !!!!! whoosh!!! they pull it out from under them.

12. Unless....
Rove can figure out someway for him to renege before the convention and then if (God forbid) he wins in November, double crossing Nancy by reneging on his deal with her. They've pulled this sort of thing off before.

13. He could get the rethug congress to push for research, then he
could blame them, get Nancy and still be the 'good guy' to the religious wing-nuts.

18. Couldn't risk that! He could lose control of the House & Senate!
You know, if by some dishonest method, he stays in the WH, losing control of both houses of Congress could be the best thing we've seen in a VERY LONG TIME!

14. This statement gives Nancy an out
I believe that Nancy has recently come to the conclusion that she wants to have nothing to do with Bush because she realizes that she is only a prop to them. By saying this now, Nancy has a ready made excuse to not participate in the convention.

16. I think Nancy OUGHT to speak at the Pukefest
And what she ought to do (without warning, of course) is come out and blast the shit outta Smirk over stem cell research, having the nerve to try to fill St. Ronnie's boots, and generally being an idiot! That'd be SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!!

about anything. Ever. Changing his stance would admit that maybe just maybe he was wrong.
