Forget the Democrats: Bush Losing Support Among Republicans
As President George W. Bush tries to convince an increasingly skeptical American electorate he deserves re-election in November, he also faces declining support among his Republican base amid growing discord over his foreign and domestic policies.
“The gloom among Republicans is deepening as President Bush falls behind Democratic nominee John F. Kerry,” says University of Virginia Political Science Professor Larry J. Sabato. At the heart of the gloom is Iraq. “Bush's presidency is--by his own admission--inextricably bound to Iraq, and things are going very badly there,” Sabato adds.

Bush’s Iraq woes deepened this week when the 9-11 Commission concluded no link existed between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. With the earlier claim of weapons of mass destruction already discredited, the commission’s finding removed the last of Bush’s questionable justifications for the war in Iraq.

Even Bush’s father, former President George H.W. Bush, refuses to publicly endorse his son’s Iraq war and an increasing number of prominent Republicans and Conservatives are straying off the reservation

I don't think the shine from a dead guy is going to last all the way to November. If not completely irrelavent by then, Reagan's memeory within the GOP my turn on *. Reagan was a shallow paperweight, but * looks like oragami in comparison.

4. They should not use Reagan
you are so right with this "Origami".
Reagan was a "great actor". Could put himself always into the right light, so did Nancy.

Bush tramples threw the scenes!

5. You're right; they shouldn't.

But the urge to canonize Ronnie will be utterly irresistable to them. And I bet they fall for it. I hope Nancy will put a stop to it.

6. Her son said yesterday
when they will ask her to speak at the convention, she will do so only when Bush takes back his veto on stem cell research!

You know what that means? :)

He will not and cannot!

7. Thanks to the sane Republicans ...
Hey, thanks to thoughtful Republicans like Nancy and Ron Jr. who can't stand George W. Bush (not 41 but 43), the back lash is already in motion. Karl Rove is human after all - he forgot that with the above folks, FAMILY comes first. I never really cared much for Nancy (she reminds me of my own Mom cold persona too much), but nobody can deny that she loved and cared for her husband as much as anyone is capable. For that (loving her spouse to the end), and being flexible enough to see the benefits of stem-cell research, she's earned my profound respect. Very few Republicans fit that mold in my world.

16. Junior is not a Republican.
He is a straight-up liberal, though he says that he does not belong to any political party.

9. Montanan Letter to Editor: GOP nolonger worth supporting
http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2004/06/19/letters/letters4.txt

More than one Republican was lost with Ronald Reagan's passing.

I am 46 years old. I became a Republican with Reagan's presidential campaign and I denounce the Republican Party coinciding with his passing. Not that he was such a great man that I can no longer be a Republican because he has died; rather, coincidentally with his passing, I can take no more of the Republican Party's rhetoric about what is good for me or this country.

I no longer hold the Republican belief that what is good for corporate America is necessarily in the best interest of America. I no longer believe that it is good and right that corporations move their headquarters overseas to avoid paying income taxes. I no longer believe that it is good for our economy to move American jobs overseas. I no longer believe that I, and the majority of voters in the state of Montana, do not really mean something when we vote for it.

The Montana Republican Party platform has just voted to support a ballot measure repealing the ban on cyanide leach mining. I, like the majority of Montanans, previously voted against this type of mining but the Republican Party has now officially stated that we voters do not know what we want. We voters vote for the wrong things and for the wrong reasons. Well, maybe they are partially right about the voting part. I've voted Republican for years and I now realize that has been wrong! Can anyone tell me how to get my name "unregistered" as a Republican?

14. DU helps a lot of us stay sane. . .
Just hang in there and know that sharing your life experiences helps to enlighten others and helps us get the truth out. I look forward to posting you in November and shouting with joy and excitement that we have begun to take our country back. It will be a long haul till then and the hard work will begin, to try to heal the wounds and repair the damage that weed boy and his band of bullies have caused our nation.

We will take our nation back from the thugs. Stay with us and keep helping us spread the truth.

Thanks Elf!

17. I think it's credible
as far as you use the links from articles provided by a very smart crew on this board.
They provide news, you will not get over mainstream media.

Other members lift your spirit, if you feel depressed.

Over all, it's very healthy to be here:hi:
