Exactly what IS the meaning of 'American Justice'?
"President Bush repeated his assertion that Bin Laden was cornered and that there was "no hole or cave deep enough to hide from American justice".

- Does Bush* even understand the (old) meaning of American justice? Or is he simply trying to change the meaning to fit his distorted view of the world?

- AMERICAN JUSTICE is supposed to be about...

innocent until proven guilty

due process

legal representation

trials

- But Bush's* concept of American justice is imprisoning anyone he wishes and holding them indefinitely without charges or legal counsel. HIS idea of American justice is bombing residential neighborhoods in the hope of killing suspected terrorists.

- Bush* should stop using the phrase American Justice because he has no idea what it means...or used to mean.

1. An old southern saying: "If you're white, you're right."
I can't think of anything closer to the truth about American justice.

3. B - changing meaning to fit his distorted view
and that can be said for every other expression he uses about American democracy, freedom, God, etc, etc, ad nauseum.

4. I'd imagine the same way they made "liberal" a pejorative term
they're hard at work crafting a new meaning to the term
justice that has nothing to do with the literal or historical
definition of the word.

6. It also seems that...
...there are different standards of justice for White and Brown people...especially in the middle east. Bush* ordering the bombing of neighborhoods because there 'might' be a 'suspected terrorist' among them is nothing more than a type of 'vigilante justice' where innocents are considered expendable.

- And all of this done under the pretext of a 'war' that will 'last a generation'. How long before this type of 'justice' finds its way into OUR legal system? Or is it already here? The US has the largest prison population in the world. Perhaps there IS no such thing as 'American justice'? A myth?

8. USA Patriot act and Homeland Security...................
it started in Germany in the 1930th like that!!!!!!!!!

We will not apply for citizenship (even though it was our goal for the last 8 years) and we will leave if Bush is reelected.
We are very sad about this. We love this land and its people!

9. America is/can be a wonderful country...
...it's the 'LEADERS' who suck.

- The downfall of America actually began with the 'war on drugs'. The 'war on terror' is simply an extention...a continuation of THAT oppressive 'war' on America's own people.

10. Rich or Poor: Another Definition of 'American Justice'
As important as race-based discrimination is the distinctively superior chance of acquittal given rich defendants. I would go so far as to say that wealth trumps race in matters of criminal or civil cases.

12. Minorities and the poor go to jail every day...
...for small quanities of drugs. They're taken from their families and their lives are forever ruined. And then we have those who never spend a night in jail because they're rich or have the right 'social status'. Dan Burton's son is a great example: caught with many pounds of pot in the trunk of his car...the case was 'disappeared'.

- As far as the 'war on terror'...there is no 'American justice'. Only revenge, torture and wanton murder of people 'suspected' of a crime.

Mr Kerry, Tear down the wall!

Kerry's stated policy on Cuba:

  • Cuba will remain under US sanctions
  • We will still be travel banned unless our travel is deemed politically worthy by US gov jackboots

    13. knee jerk, feel good justice
The knid that makes people feel all "patriotic" inside. It's window dressing for the masses now.
Like in the "good ol days" where you got to string someone up for pilferin' yer cow.

American "justice" has become as hollow as everything else in the world of popular culture.

...but I thought we had matured as a nation and people?

    - We've come a long way, baby! The world used to respect America...as the beacon for democracy, justice, fair play and..uh...honest elections. Now we're just another third world country...a Banana Republic(an).

    - History scorned Hitler and his ilk for the very things Bush* is doing today. He has set our country and the world back 200 years...to the time of inquisitions, witch hunts and 'biblical law'.

    20. Popular culture
People have comwe to expect an outcome in 30, or 60 minutes.
Ala JAG, or WalkerTexasRanger, or whatever crap is on TV now. I haven't watched commercial TV in probably 7 years, but you know what I mean, hopefully.
People want quick, "righteous" answers to those uncomfortable situations, and then it's time for the next show to come on. After a Hummmer, and an erection pill commercial, that is.

    And Mercy knelt a-weeping.
'Clear out!' he cried, 'disordered wench!
    Nor come before me creeping.
Upon your knees if you appear,
'Tis plain you have no standing here.'

Then Justice came. His Honour cried --
'Your status? -- devil seize you!'
    'Amica curiae,' she replied --
'Friend of the court, so please you.'
'Begone!' he shouted -- 'there's the door --
I never saw your face before!'
