I wrote essentially the same thing, yet I used far too many words. Welcome.. I've hear three years, no one will accuse me of being a troll or a disruptor for having the same opinon you've expressed.

The right makes pleas to mob mentality. Emotional appeals. Appeals that focus on the course base emotions that we all have. There is a part of our brain left over from when our evolutionary ancestors were reptiles. This part of the brain is called the R-Complex. It is responsible for the more course emotions we have. Anger, fear, hate. Its primitive and it doesn't care what anyone thinks about it.

It doesn't take a lot of thinking to appeal to the R-Complex. You throw up some threats and you have its attention. However over time we have evolved other parts of the brain for dealing with more complex issues than overly friendly saber tooth tigers. However in order to use these structures we have to suppress the R-Complexes desire for visceral action. We have to realise that sometimes the best path is not to pick up an asses jawbone and start wailing on the other monkeys.

Those that do fall prey to their R-Complex are easily manipulated. Those that weave images of danger before their eyes can lead them to where they want. They are like putty in the hands of those that are willing to use their higher order brain functions to manipulate their moer pliable brethren.

There is a comfort in giving in to the mob. There is comfort in the howls of outrage of your fellow insensed mob mates. But there is also a profound ignorance in the mob. The mob like a pack of lemmings can lead right off a cliff.

Now I don't want to put a damper on your excellent rant. But we need you. You have a talent. You are an effective communicator. You can convey ideas. We need to focus those ideas in areas that are most effective. If we lose you to the mob. If we lose you to the reptilian part of your brain we lose a very important asset.

I did it in Brazil in 9 different states (got threatened with physical violence by 3 Freepers in Rio de Janeiro, but 19 Brazilians came to my defense), constantly outdoing any criticism of our corrupt government.
