The Zell Miller / Lester Maddox connection
Many of you may not know that Zell Miller was Lester Maddox' Chief of Staff when Lester Maddox, the white supremacist icon, was Governor of Georgia. Maddox appointed him because, as he put it in 1967, "Zell is very close to me, in friendship and the way we think."

You may not know that it was Zell Miller who gave the order to ring Georgia's capitol with State Troopers in riot gear during the funeral of Martin Luther King, Jr.

You may now know that it was Zell Miller who directed state agencies to deny African Americans access to state office building bathrooms in 1967, until Maddox himself overruled him on the basis that the 1964 Civil Rights Act prohibited such orders.

Sadly, you may not know that Zell Miller is documented to have used the "N" word racial epithet repeatedly in April of 2004, at a gathering of Republican candidates at the Marriot Marquis in downtown Atlanta.

The man is a racist. The man is a white supremacist. The man is an American pariah.

His legacy will be that of a man who left racism for a season and returned to it with gusto. He is a filthy maggot of a man.

1. Can you provide specific references to any of the above?
I'm not from that part of the country, but it sure sounds authentic. But I engage in debate in some HOSTILE venues, and I NEED verification.

3. So is Roy Barnes as well? (i.e., why did Barnes name Zell to the Senate?
after the death of Paul Coverdell? Is Barnes equally nuts/racist, whatever?

4. That was just after Zell's prostate operation
His recovery didn't go so well after he got selected. He was never able to regain control of his bladder and he apparently could never achieve erection again. That's what sent him over the edge to the Republican side.

include one heck of a lot of angy impotent men, can you expand a bit on your theory for his conversion? Did he or a Miller contact say something that leads you to believe this to be the cause? Is this widely believed in GA among Dems? Just curious....

7. It's not well known
It's bascially a secret. Miller comes from a culture that considers prostate surgery to be a badge of dishonor. He's a dinosaur. He can't seem to get with the times. I can't tell you how I found this out, let's just say that I know, and I'm not pleased that he has motivated me to tell people about it. I would have stayed quiet to honor his wishes, but he betrayed my lifetime of support and now I don't care anymore.

9. Good ol' Zell
http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?pagename=article&contentId=A45844-2003Nov15¬Found=true

Supporters of President Bush's conservative nominees have used the word "lynching" to describe the treatment of judicial candidates by liberal opponents. African American political and civic leaders say that equating a challenge to a judge's nomination with the kidnappings, atrocities and murders that black Americans faced during more than a half-century of lynchings is inappropriate.

When Sen. Zell Miller (D-Ga.) invoked the term last week during his defense of judicial nominee Janice Rogers Brown, civil rights activist Wade Henderson called on Miller to apologize.

On the Senate floor Friday, Miller said that liberals who oppose Brown, a nominee to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, are upset because she is black, conservative and a woman. Liberals are essentially telling Brown, "Gal, you will be lynched" if she pursues her nomination, Miller said.

In a statement, Miller, a former governor of a state that was the scene of more lynchings than any other except Mississippi, said, "I think it sums up the situation accurately. The tragedy here does not lie in my floor speech. . . . The tragedy lies in what is happening in the United States Senate to this highly qualified conservative, African American jurist."

10. I put a curse on him
No one wants to get me started on ol "Zig Zag Zell." As a board op for Malloy I accidentally forgot to pot up his mic the evening of Clinton's election. I wish I'd spit on him, rather than feeling guilty for delaying his "stellar" words.

You see, i had voted for him that day, and for his buddy: a judge he recommended for my district ( The guy was an old school chum of Miller's with a brain tumor. A pity appointment). The next day, in a kangaroo court, his buddy the judge gave custody of my four-year-old to the man who beat the f*** out of me and my kids. You really don't want to hear all of it, but suffice it to say this comes as very good news to me.

Another of the evil men involved in this fell off a ladder and died. The demented judge has died. But here I thought Sonny Perdue's victory was the answer to my curse for Zell's part in it. Now I see that it was carried even - ahem - lower than I'd hoped.

Please don't feel pity for this man. He felt none for my children and me. Equal protection under the law became "Beat up the Bitch and we'll reward you" under Miller's watch. There are thousands of stories like mine all throughout Georgia. He is a misogynist and a slimeball and never was a Democrat to begin with. He deserves his pain. You reap what you sow....
