Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 10:52 PM by Stephanie

Pay heed, BushCO. You are officially SUNK.

Has anyone ever heard of ANY film selling out a week in advance of opening? Let alone a DOCUMENTARY?

Thank you Michael Moore! Don't let anyone say that art doesn't matter, that an artist can't make a difference. This Friday night, cinema changes everything.

19. Isn't it doing well everywhere?
Don't they keep adding theaters? I don't know - I'm asking. That's what I thought DU'ers have been reporting.

Nooooo! Seriously?
God it is just freaking endless the lengths they will go to. Clear Channel owns Clearview Cinemas, right? If Carlyle buys Loews we will have nothing to watch but Stepford Wives forever. When is this happening? I guess it is too late to save Bush from Moore!

Alleged war profiteer is Loews chain owner

Mon Jun 21, 7:11 PM ET

Dana Harris, STAFF

In "Fahrenheit 9/11," Michael Moore (news) fingers Washington, D.C.-based private investment firm the Carlyle Group for war profiteering. The same Carlyle Group is now a co-owner of the Loews Theater chain which, as of Friday, will devote 59 of its screens to Moore's controversial documentary. <more>

47. Is this maybe the beginning of a republican effort to
buy up all the theaters so they can control what people are permitted to see, so that movies like Farenheit 9/11 will no longer be a major threat to them?

Kind of scary.

You can probably still get some tickets still if you go in person.

34. Movie tickets on the internet sell out?
Yeah, it happens a lot actually. More than you'd think. It is really a small percentage that they allow to be sold online.

35. Well it would be interesting to find out what the percentage is
Since they are so heavily promoting online sales for this film. I'd be curious to know how many they allocated.

36. It depends on the movie theater
You don't want to strand the people who line up for the film and leave them without tickets, but it also makes sense to sell as many tickets as you can.

Usually it is a very low percentage, but if the theater wants, it can set aside a much higher percentage for online sales.

So, if you want to know exactly how many of the tickets are reserved for online sales, you will have to call up each indivdual theater to find out.

46. Well then hundreds of people have walked over to the box office
Because the Friday night shows are SOLD OUT for 7:30 and 10:00. If not bought online then people must have walked over there to buy, which I would say is kind of unusual.

And to think that these disgusting Repubs thought to gear their whole war and fascist campaign in the name of avenging New Yorkers, who reject them for the scum that they are.

29. Moore should project it on the White House
just to piss off Rove.

Seriously, we should look for creative ways to get this film seen by everyone. Free viewings "In the Park" would be a great way to get it seen.

That's where I grew up and went to H.S. and my folks still live in G'burg. I miss it so. White Flint Mall, and Joe Gibbs once again the coach of the team.
