Is Election.com (Accenture) still doing Convention Voting for the DNC?
http://www.election.com/us/pressroom/pr2000/0907.htm

Democratic National Committee Declares election.com Convention Voting System a Success

"election.com Places 2000 Democratic National Convention in the History Books as First Successful e-Convention
Garden City, NY, September 7, 2000 - election.com, the premier global Internet elections company, and the Democratic National Committee today announced the overwhelming success of the country's first online political convention vote."

I just thought I'd ask. If I were a Democrat, I'd check into this ASAP and make them cancel the contract- FAST!

In fact, I would think any party would run from this. Talk about ability to pick your candidates, you opposition candidates.... In fact, last I looked, even the Republicans were using this company.

It's one thing to want to appear "with it" on technology.

It's quite another to not realize it can be used against you.

Oh, this is the same cast of charaters doing the SERVE voting project for military and overseas. Votes go to the Pentagon then are downloaded from there by the counties.

If I were a soldier in Iraq, and mad as heck about the Bush administration, I would not vote via the Internet and SERVE.

1. Who would you contact?
This is a good question. Is any group doing anything about this?

2. Local Dems, state...
I would assume local Dem districts, county, state.

All of the grass roots Dems should ask, "What's going on here?"

4. Get Your Local and State Democratic Organizations on This
Edited on Sun Aug-17-03 11:53 AM by RedEagle
I'm an Independent. Lean progressive but the Dems are not going to listen to me.

It will take ordinary citizens raising a ruckus to get the attention of national.

Then, if national is still using this company, or any form of internet voting or touch screen without voter verified paper ballots to verify the vote, they have some explaining to do.

Look, you can back your favorite candidate all you want. At the end, if you have this kind of selection system, you will never know who the candidate should really have been.

So, if Rove wants to run against someone in particular, the system can potentially be rigged.

If the DLC wants a particular candidate, the system can be rigged.

If the rank and file Democrats want to select their candidate democratically- and make sure it's democratic, then voting using these systems has to be banned.

It would do a lot for the battle to make sure our votes are counted as cast, if the DNC or any other party, would ditch these systems ASAP and let it be known WHY.

You can't win against the status quo if the status quo has the ability to control the outcome. That's the danger these voting systems posess.
