Wingnut "Dr" Laura "Connecting" to Xtian Fundies (via Bartcop)

Now coming to a wingnut fundie church near you! She repeats here that she "got nothing back" from her hyper-religiousity. Does she mean, from Jewish LIBERALS? Plus she whines about getting TWO nasty letters----HECK, I've sent off FAR more than that over her AND countless wingnuts and nobody cried over MINE. I'm jealous. But for the sake of diminishing this hypocrite's power and influence, I bow to whoever wrote those letters.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger, one of the nation's most popular radio talk-show hosts and the most successful on-air counselor, is no longer practicing the rituals of Judaism – a religion she converted to a decade ago in her 40s.

''Almost 10 years ago, I talked on the air about becoming a convert to Judaism,'' she told her listeners last week. ''I was open on the air at that time about that evolution. Well, I would say within the last year I have had a de-evolution.''

Where is she now spiritually?

''Nowhere exactly,'' she chuckled. ''Suspended animation. I still see myself as a Jew. But the spiritual journey in that direction – as hard-core as I was at it – just didn't fulfill something in me that I needed.'' ....

Let's see... what could she want... she's absolutely perfect. she said so herself, so who is Elohim to tell her what to practice... maybe if he sent a few dollars her way. :P

They don't pay any attention to her, they aren't warm and loving enough for her ... gee, is she talking about the Jewish religion here or just her Jewish mother she is still furious with even in death? And how committed to a religion can you be if you are swayed from it by two letters from complete strangers? She is planning a full, very public born-again Christion conversion purely to boost her sagging career.

I listened to her every day. Had no TV at the time, only radio, so Rush, Dr. Laura & Dr. Dean Edell were my companions. This was before she got all wacky fundy. At that time I was also in a bad relationship, getting bones broken every few months, trapped (I thought) with no way out. I have to credit Dr. Laura for kicking my ass every single day until I finally DID get out. I even bought her book 10 stupid things women do to mess up their lives, devoured it, saw myself all over the place, and learned from it.

In my new place, I did get TV. Also got on the Internet for the first time. The Clinton hearing was going on, and I heard Rush gushing all over the place about how Clinton "just LOST it, hee hee hee!" during questioning. This I had to see! So it came on TV and I videotaped the thing, all 6 hours of it (6 wasted boring hours waiting for Clinton to "lose it" which of course never happened - this was the beginning of my loss of faith in Rush Limbaugh, but that's another story).

After it was over, Larry King came on, and lo and behold there's Dr. Laura, my hero! Larry asked her if Clinton apologized and came clean, could there be hope for him. Dr. Laura, I'll never forget this, said it would make no difference. This was a matter of CHARACTER. His behavior revealed his horrible CHARACTER. He'd still have it whether he came clean or not.

THEN THE NEKKID PICS OF DR LAURA CAME OUT! And Dr. Laura went ballistic, trying to get them suppressed. When that failed, she "apologized and came clean."

Crunch. That was the end of the road for me & Dr. Laura. Since then, she's gone so wacko I don't even recognize her anymore. Sad, especially for her kid.

But I have to say, I'm glad all this happened after I got out of that relationship!

glad that whatever snake-oil "Dr. Laura" was selling cured your ill at the time. However you get there, what matters is that you get there! In the midst of most of her crap is some good old common sense which is what makes her nuttier pronouncements seem so *reasonable* in that context.

And, congrats not only on the new life but on sheding a frightening array of people (near and on the airwaves) on your way to health!

Really tough to read that. But thank goodness that poster made it through. But the liberation from LIMBOsevic and "Dr" Laura (symbols for WINGNUTISM itself) is glorious.
