Friendly Reminder: Be Alert for Disrupters

A few weeks back, one of our colleagues posted a link to a right wing Web site that had been monitoring DU for sport and plotting to disrupt. I think it would be wise for all DUers of good faith to be alert to disrupters. Try not to swallow the bait they're laying out for you. One sign of possible disruption is the boiling rage you might feel upon reading a fellow "DUers" post. During this week of fund raising, it would be prudent not to allow yourself to fall prey to this game. Remember, DU, DUers, and the peacefulness of the community are the prey.

And to all good DUers, I might add, please try to refrain from goading others here who don't share your opinions about the candidates. You're just making it all that much harder to spot the real assholes among us.

Kicked off Democraticunderground for the 9th time
My wolf-in-sheep's-clothing act gets better every time out, but invariably I panic some blissninny into alerting the moderators about my non-liberal chakra or something.

Any advice for attempt number 10? My 2A evangelism is needed where it would do the most good.

BTW, I am running out of clever, but not too obvious, liberal double entendre screen names. Suggestions appreciated here too

St. Johns. - I agree with you, but a few caveats apply:

1. Most American people gun people dislike "liberals", not because they're hateful, but because most "liberals" really, and I mean really dislike gun people, and have been responsible for some of the stupidest gun laws in the history of this country.

2. You would note that a large amount of liberals frequents The High Road, and we even have some incredibly anti-gun people here *cough* Agricola *cough*, we don't ban or flame people based on their opinion, unlike the people on DU.

3.I'm a liberal.

4.I used to post a lot on DU. I never trolled or flamed anybody, in fact, I fit in with the official rules of DU perfectly.

Freepers are usually pretty easy to spot from the bad spelling of primary words like "no" and "yes" and they have handles like "Proud Liberty for Jesus" or "Stars, stripes and guns" or "Honk if you hate Fags".

Disruptors like to separate us - divide and conquer. North or South, old or young we all need to get the fascists out of the white house and out of the congress.

Suspect those who seek to exploit hatred against:

the South
the religious
the non-religious
liberals
moderates
the poor
minorities
women
GLBT's

The candidates they seem to be targeting for folks to flame about (names withheld for obvious reasons) must be the candidates they are most afraid of winning.

When we see a thread or post accusing a candidate of something God-awful it may be best to consider it a great sign, that we have them worried, and don’t respond.

When people go looking for disruptors, they invariably find them lurking everywhere. And often the disruptors they find arent' disruptors at all. The disruptor hunts are more disruptive than the disruptors themselves.

If you think someone is a disruptor, just hit the alert link on one of their posts. The moderators are trained to deal with disruptors in the appropriate manner.
