The talking point that was mailed out to the radio right-wing shills...
Limbaugh is talking down the Bush recusal from the NAACP appearance. Listening to talk radio out of Denver this morning, Mike Rosen was talking about the same subject. Is this a subject they think may be a negative for Bush? Does it make him look like a wimp? Was this the talking point of the day? Let's see if Hannity and the others talk about it? It will be just like the "hammering" that Jon Stewart mentioned on his show last night...over and over and over...

1. Yep, the "republican attack squads"
I think Kerry needs to refer to them often and when ask who they are by the media name names.

3. NAACP was being smeared by fox "news" last night . . .

Yeah, yeah, I know, but a lot of people watch that crap.

NAACP was called almost everything but communist; though I think that was hinted at as well.

4. Kentuck, I saw Jon Stewart's last night
and it makes the republican shills look embarassingly stupid. Is it
really a matter of the White House sending out those talking points,
and everyone abiding by their rules? What whores the media has become
in order to protect the Bush insanity.
Jon Stewart's writers are so good, and his deliverance is great.

:hi:

gives is Classic....

Talking Points gatta be coming from the same Pub Source...it was SO obvious... Kerry should get permission to use that in commercials...would blow the whole thing apart....

The Pubs would go nuts.

8. That look is brilliant.
I rewound that a couple of times and just couldn't stop laughing. I had watched Outfoxed earlier in the day and this was a great bookend to it.

15. The same phrases used by 6 or 7 news/media people, word for word
proving they have the SAME Source......

Worse, on three different subjects, all same thing... proving they have a common source... so OBVIOUS.....that it was HILARIOUS.

6. They may look embarrassingly stupid to us...
... but, unfortunately, they look embarrassingly brilliant to the voters.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard the "Edwards is an ambulance chaser," "Kerry and Edwards are the two most liberal senators" and "hatefest" talking points parroted by normal, hard-working customers of mine throughout this disappointing week.

We have got to continue exposing this crap for what it is...

9. You're absolutely right Jen
Voters are brainwashed so easily. I remember when the media had some "real" news, and not made up talking points. The Democrats
need to get more assertive instead of trying to play fairly. Being nice is not working well.

10. Well, it's the corporations that put Edwards' clients into the ambulance
"Ambulance chaser." The Repubs really do appeal to the lowest common denominator, don't they?

12. Why is Stewart the only one doing this? I mean, the montages, showing
the various administration and media whores mouthing the talking points. 5-6 people saying the same magic words.

If we had something closer to prime time doing this too, it might help expose them and break the spell. Can mediamatters.org link clips together and show this?

13. Exactly. A comedy show is the only show
hanging people with their very own words. The Daily Show has the video to show Condi saying one thing...then saying the opposite. Do the networks not have video libraries? The Daily Show can count how many times Bush repeats "America is safer now"...can't ABC also count? When we lose our free press, we lose our freedom. There are very few outlets which have not been bought by the Bushies or intimidated into silence. We're on one of them right now.

19. "When we lose our free press, we lose our freedom"
If that's the case, we have LOST our freedom.

The only place it still exists is here on the internet.

Those who aren't keeping informed the way we are HAVE LOST THEIR FREEDOMS.

That's the bottom line and that's the #1 reason that I AM SO FUCKING PISSED OFF.

It's time to SHUT DOWN THE MEDIA BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE

14. NAACP smeared themselves
They opened this can of worms themselves. They should have endorsed Gore in 2000, but they should never have become an arm os his campaign. If I were Bush, I wouldn't speak to them either.

Sucks, but true. They were the voice of the civil rights movement. But they gave up all those years of credibility when they joined the Dem party in 2000.

*incidentally, they asked me to help and I refused. I chose to promote Gore in ways that I thought were...wiser.

17. You have some evidence the NAACP "joined the Democratic party"
Just because they supported a candidate that supported them doesn't mean they joined any party. I supported Gore and I have never joined the Democratic Party. I think maybe the only credibility lost here may be yours.

24. I was at several meetings
I was there and saw it. In fact, my grandmother, who is a lifelong Dem and civil rights activist and NAACP member said the same. I sat through a pre-dinner "prayer" in which the preacheer asked the Lord to bless the food and make sure Al Gore wins.

This is NOT cool. I was for Gore, but dude...not during the prayer. They went too far. The NAACP, IMHO, is more valuable than Al Gore, and is deserving of more respect. But the leadership put the organization on the line for a political candidate. And the rest, as they say, is history.

If a candidate refuses to speak before the NAACP, it should cause a national outcry. Do you see one?

21. This time they are covering
for a huge mistake or shortcoming on Bush's part. In times like this no need to be defensive about this obvious smokescreen. Bush blew it big time and in full chicken costume because he CAN'T do certain necessary things.

Because these goons are still in power we take the attack itself too seriously. It is a sign of covering up since even other GOP residents knew how even to make a bad appearance work for them quite easily.

These are bullies whining or talking tough behind their mommies' skirts and we have seen a LOT of that this year.

Bush is imploding as a pathetic excuse of a... (insert any term of human value here).

And if he was listening to God he would be in a hairshirt at Crawford writing his confession.

22. DimSon's NPD has gotten to the point he can't face hostility.
Edited on Sat Jul-17-04 12:31 AM by TahitiNut
Every appearance is even more tightly controlled than in the past and not a single dissenter is permitted to attend. He can't handle it, even to the very low degree he once got away with. That's why he's abrupt and pugnacious with the press - he's right on the edge of raving. The guy's on the thin edge of a psychosis.

The refusal to appear at the NAACP wasn't just political. It's a sure indication he's over the hill. We (I) predicted this two years ago.

It wasn't a "huge mistake." They had no choice with the psychopath.

There's no way in hell this guy would make it even into the beginning of a second term. I predict he takes a big "vacation" right after the election -- big even for him.

23. Yes and this pressure
should have been kept up long ago and maybe these nuts would have cracked before some of their crimes were committed. Instead too many Democratic leaders went along with the friendly media to make it easy and boost his image even higher. It cost our country lives and much more.
