How can Greed, Rapturism, and PNACism exist at the same time in the GOP?

I live in a part of the country that is thick with RW fundie radiovangelists. On drives, I listen to them.

If you haven't heard this before (repeatedly) its very difficult to believe. But the fundies fervently believe, based on a talibanesque interpretation of the bible that very soon, the M.E. will erupt in a huge war, that arabs will overrun Jerusalem and try to toss the Jews out. That Jesus will come down from heaven and destroy the Arabs and (get this) in appreciation, all the Jews will convert to christianity and Jesus will rule the earth from Jerusalem for 1,000 years. (after which first 1,000 years the devil will return and take over for the next thousand years, but that's another story).

Accordingly, the fundies see the turmoil in the M.E. as a sign that all this is about to happen and will result in the RETURN of jesus to earth!! So, anything they can do to support Israel and inflame the Arabs is like....a really reverent and wonderful thing that god wants them to do.

The jews listen to this and think hmmmmm......that's convenient. We'll go along with that because we have lots of angry arabs in our midst and all we have to do is support fundie RW repukes in congress and they'll make sure we get lots of bombs and planes and stuff. So they do. Very convenient, although somehow i don't think they believe the armageddon crap and their imminent conversion to xtianity for one second.

The greed thing is easy. Arms dealers deal in death with aplomb and sleep well at night. They see a fight and the smell money. They are amoral and don't care who gets killed.

The really crazy part is that Smirk is a fundie and buys into all this crap. He's nuts.

Bingo. Recipe for holy war disaster (sans I'm afraid Jayzuz coming down from heaven and rescuing anybody) If there is a god, he must be disgusted by the mayhem being wrought in his name.
