US Congressional Reps were NOT to meet at UN HQ (Canal Hotel)
It was widely reported on this site yesterday that a congressional delegation was “minutes” away from a meeting with the late Sergio de Mello (UN special envoy for Iraq) at the Canal Hotel, then the UN HQ in Iraq. Indeed, this was and continues to be cited as the actual reason for the attack.

However, the meeting was to have taken place at US Military HQ:

The session was scrapped because the plane she and other lawmakers were traveling on was delayed on a flight from Jordan. The meeting was to have been at the military headquarters used by the U.S.-led forces in Iraq, about 5 miles from the U.N. site, Cantwell said.

I hope this clears up this little misunderstanding. Thanks go to stickdog for his usual persistence.

3. Fox said Canal Hotel - they were wrong? - first time!
Like Rush - they are not news - just entertainment!

In any case, I will put the new fact under my tinfoil hat - and stop admiring Rove's timing of the blast!

5. BTW: It was a flatbed truck, not a cement mixer...
And it was old munitions, not C4.
