I just voted--just said "NO", of course!--and it's currently 54/46 AGAINST more troops being sent--BIG mystery why after the last two days, let alone the last two months, I guess!:eyes:

we have no choice about it. We MUST send more troops. The problem is that we cannot pull them from the National Guard because that simply isn't their function nor purpose.

It's too little too late, but if we were going to invade this woe-begotten country, we should have gone in with one helluva lot more manpower than we did. Rummy is a complete jackass when it comes to strategy and refused to listen to others with more experience and more knowledge of what a full-fledged securing of an entire country requires.

Please bear in mind that I'm speaking solely in terms of how an invasion should have been conducted and not whether it was justified. The thing is we DID invade and there's no going back now. The other fact is we did it completely WRONG from the start. We should have had spec-ops in the North already enlisting the aid of the Kurds and arranging secure drop points all over that area, we should have had no less than 100,000 ground forces ready to go in, and we should have completely encircled Baghdad with our forces combined with allied forces and Kurdish allies. Tikrit should have been one of the first cities secured for safety reasons, and as callous as it sounds, humanitarian aid should have been put in second priority to securing supply lines and major strategic locations.

The whole thing has been a cluster-fuck from the git-go, and I'm not even IN the freakin' military!

Right now, we have absolutely NO choice but to send additional troops until we've got UN and international support enough to completely withdraw. That won't happen until after the next election.

More *US* troops will only make matters worse,
because the Iraqi people now regard our troops as the enemy.
