they surprise me. Either that or they're deliberatly spreading misinformation (which is just as possible).

Yesterday there was a satirical thread here about Paul Newman suing the department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for copyright infringement. (see: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=103&topic_id=6671&mesg_id=6671 )

So, I'm just letting the radio scan while I was driving to work this morning and I let it stop on the local right wing station because they were discussing Al Franken. When they had finished with Al, the DJ said "And, according the New York Times, Paul Newman is suing HUD." They read from the article referenced in the above forum and NEVER, NOT ONCE, mentioned this was satire. It was discussed as a fact. They finished by slamming Paul Newman for being a liberal nut and said he should go back to making salad dressing.

I should have listened longer to see how many callers they let through that were buying this story but I just couldn't stand it.

I can't believe that even the most basic rw talk show host wouldn't check his sources.

Even you spread absolute falsehoods, there are people who will believe it forever. Mission acomplished. Sometime, somewhere, some nut will bring this up as truth in a conversation you have one day.

they don't HAVE "sources" - they make sh** up. Who is gonna question them? Certainly not their stupid fans.

I wonder what else we could get them to believe. What am I saying? They believe that Faux is fair and balanced. They'll believe anything.

Frank Pastore was hosting (Hewitt's off for his Dad's funeral), and the guest was asked "What would you do to solve the problems in the Middle East?"

The response:

"Kill all 6,000 members of the Saudi Royal family and have Israel attack and kill every member of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the PLO, may the war start tomorrow."

Dumbfounded, Pastore asked the same question, "But what would you do, really?" and got the same answer.

Completely nuts. Off the chart insane-o.

This guy was completely serious. And unlike Pastore, the host (Mike Richards) did not even challenge the guy. At all.

Month 1 - RD publishes an article about J.K. Rowling

Month 2 - Some woman writes in saying that the Harry Potter books have turned 40,000 children to Satan

Month 3 - Some guy writes in saying the woman from month 2 is nuts.

Month 4 - The woman writes back saying she had found an article on internet that reported the fact of all these children becoming Satanists. She even supplies the website: www.theonion.com
