Further proof that CNN has gone over to the dark side
Their "Who is John Kerry" special should be subtitled "a flip flopper you can't trust". Lord have mercy... is there NO ONE in the national media on our side?
My favorite moment: "Kerry joined the hockey team (at St Paul's) and became so good that some regarded him as a showoff". Who on God's green earth can justify that kind of backhand slam at that narrative point in a biographical story...unless there is a hidden agenda. Why not "became so good he was regarded as the team's leader" or "elected captain" or "briefly considered going pro". etc, etc.
This was an insidious hatchet job from beginning to end and relentless whoring by Candy Crowley.

2. yes - it is almost immediately nauseating. But I'm counting on
John Kerry and crew to use their finesse, brains and bucks to convince the public otherwise.

5. How are they going to do that?
When the media, the same media that gave Howard Dean a T-shirt that said, "WE have the power...signed, the Media", serves the interests of Bush and his contributors?

One plan of action says that our candidates should make the case that they serve those interests better. Another plan says they should "take their case to the people". But it's only in cases where they can either overcome the artificial barrier, or circumvent it entirely, that they are able to break thru the din.

How is Kerry/Edwards going to get through to "the public" when the commonly accepted conduit to reach "the public" is so obviously not serving the public interest?

8. Kerry/Edwards has a ton of competent people working on all aspects of
this quest to win the White House and they appear to be steadily gaining in the polls.

The commonly accepted conduit, the media, is a huge roadblock, you're absolutely right. Sorry if I irritate you - but I believe K/E will prevail.

I also think K/E already have teams in place who are fine tuning plans for the transition from bush to Kerry as well as planning for whatever crises bush and company may throw in their path or leave in their wake.

15. It doesn't irritatte me at all...
...to think of a Kerry/Edwards white house. I look forward to it, but the media is a MASSIVE roadblock, and we need to recognize it, and chip away at it, from its foundations upward. They've been derelict in their duties, and should have their charters revoked (I'm speaking of the cable news networks in particular at the moment).

4. Yes...
...it was. Now ask yourself, "Who benefits?" We should be challenging everyone out there to ask themselves that question. Why have things become so concentrated, so slanted? Why do they lie and manipulate us, without apology or concern for our well being or future?

11. To me the most insidious parts were Bob Dole
turning up every 10 minutes to say something really vicious with a smile on his face. What was that about ? He must really hate Kerry. I've heard him disparage Kerry's war record many times on CNN and they must have kept them all and inserted them in this program.

Grrrr!!!

Hey Bob, there are swift boats on the Mekong Delta, and there are stupid fratboys going AWOL from TANG.

Where's all the "support the troops" rhetoric when they're talking about Kerry, Clark, and Cleland?!!

13. What a ridiculous piece of programming.
More biased than any Michael Moore documentary.
Absolutely pathetic shit.
Candy Crowley is demented. What does she offer? Why does CNN keep her on? She's the least attractive person on CNN -- BY FAR -- so there must be something good about her outside of appearance, you would think. But 'tis not the case.

16. Candy Crowley was like this 4 years ago, too...
It was very apparent then that her job was to trash Gore every opportunity she got; I think Bob Sommersby wrote extensively about this at The Daily Howler. She also trashed the Dems during the run-up to the primaries and I remember writing the Dean campaign begging them to ask CNN to get Crowley off following his campaign because, knowing what she's like, I was horrified at what she would do to trash him. It's really not a surprise, though, that she's doing it now to Kerry.

The important issue here is not what she looks like or how her voice sounds, she could be a troll for all I care as long as she's objective and sticks to the facts without editorializing. And while I haven't seen this program (I stopped watching CNN months ago because of their choice to predominately use neocons as "experts" and guests), I know from her history that she doesn't do these things; so I don't doubt that this special reflected some bias. However, she's not entirely to blame. We should also be protesting with her editors and the producers at CNN for allowing this kind of "journalism" to begin with.

19. Who needs further proof. CNN is thorougly Bushevik. Occasionaly
and very halfheartedly, will broadcast something contrary, but this seems to be only to keep the sheep believing they are the Left-opposite of Faux.

Which is of course, ludicrous at best and insane at worst.

MANY Totalitarian Nations like Imperial Amerika have the problem of a degraded and untrustworthy press.

We are NOT unique in this regard.
