Is this what YOU want?

"wild eyed radicals from the liberal eastern establishment want to force your sons and daughters to have gay sex and kill babies while your tax dollars pay for it all"

This (in a nutshell anyway) is the message that is being hammered into people everyday by conservative radio. I just got through driving around the Midwest and time after time all I could hear was Rush/Hannity/O'Rielly. Even the political ads were slams against "liberal eastern radicals who want to force their views on (insert state here)" Democrats are being castigated as evil around the US and the word liberal is fast becoming synonymous with "Nazi".

Before my trip, I couldn't understand how Shrub could still be neck & neck with Kerry. Now I do. The DNC must start spending money in "rural" areas to counteract the conservative message.

2. "The DNC must start spending money in rural areas to conteract
conservative message". THANK YOU!

The message needs to get out to smaller towns in the heartland that the GOP has sold the nation to the multi-national corporations using PO Boxes on small island to avoid paying taxes and to circumvent American laws.

When all that is heard is BS, that will be the mindset. There is a reason media ownership has been gobbled up by huge corporations since the 80s. When they control the message, they control everything. It has to be addressed.

3. If we just start playing nice with the Pugs, they'll knock it off
At least that's the strategy that we're starting to hear from our 'leaders.' Maybe it will work this time.

4. There is a time for everything... The Convention is not the time for
negativity. We need to be completely positive and we can do that through comparison without bashing. After the Convention the donkey will be let out of it's cage and will do some ass kicking.

6. I hope that you're right...
this go along to get along crap has been a losing position for us in the past. I don't believe that giving the impression that their leader is an ok sort of guy, just a little misguided, will win many converts.

Again, I'm not proposing a Bush bash, just a moratorium on the subtle praise for Bush.

8. And these candidates understand...
Kerry and Edwards understand that they need to stay above the fray while surrogates like Moore and Franken - and YOU AND I - do the bashing and slamming. So c'mon! Get in CNN and MSRNC's faces and let 'em know what you think!!!

10. negetivity
seems to be rhe whole repug platform
I think it IS time for negetivity because the republicansd are so negative.
Day after day they do things that hurt people to make money,to dominate to vent thier spleen at someone elses expense to demogogue.

I think intellegent neghetivity that cuts thier agenda open so the rot corruption and inhuman motives of republicanism in of itself as an 'idealogy' as a 'belief' and the resuults of said beliefs on human beings can be seen inside it.This I feel is what Dems need to do.

http://www.alternet.org/story/12962

The republicans are going so far as to call liberals an authoritarian movement based in envy and power grabbing.

One thing left out of the debate here is insider cronyism and personal connections that pull strings, corrupt ones thinking about the purposes of civilization itself,..the republican party is full of this hubris.
And it's not just the neo-cons.

5. It's gone way beyond name calling now...

The conservative message is fear them, for they are different from you I really hate the pre-war Germany analogies, but in this instance, it's the same thing...blame one group for all of the problems in your country. Why is America stuck in Iraq? Because the LIBERALS don't want America to win! It's the LIBERALS fault you got laid off, It's the LIBERALS fault your son says he is gay , It's the LIBERALS fault you can't smoke or chew tobacco where ever you damn well please, and on and on and on.

7. For a analysis of how the conservative got their message out...
...to the rural areas, pick up a copy of "What's the Matter With Kansas" by Thomas Frank. I've only just started it, but it's already excellent.

13. Nope, that one isn't being played yet...

From what I heard around the dial. They are pounding the message every day.

"Why should WE (the good conservative folk) have to spend OUR taxes so that the perverts can be treated for AIDS? It's THEIR fault they got AIDS (You know they can't stop themselves from having perverted sex every time they see someone's butt in a tight pair of jeans....that's why they're perverts!) They are all out there in San Francisco, having wild sex orgies every night, having sex with men, women, children, animals, anything they can stick it in to...so then, when the perverts get sick, WE get stuck with the bill to cure them so they can go out and vote for the Dumbocrats. Besides, AIDS isn't really as bad as the liberals say it is....."

I'm not saying the DNC should start running the same kind of crap the conservatives are spewing....but they should start doing SOMETHING, ANYTHING, to present a different view, and to show that LIBERAL does NOT equal NAZI.
