Democrats finally have a slogan ! SHOVE IT !
:) Although it's not as vulgar as Cheney's, it is still very effective. And isn't it about time to tell Hannity, O'Reilly, Rush, Rove, Gillespie, and the whole right-wing fascists to "Shove it!" ? ALthough I sense that John Kerry feels his calling is to "unite" this country. Above all else, he wants to be a President for "all the people". And slogans such as "Shove it!" may not fit into his idea of what this nation needs to do to be united.

1. I was thinking the same thing earlier today.
Al Franken should adopt this as a counter to O' Really's "Shut up".

2. This country won't be united in the foreseeable future.
The GOP has spent the past 25 years dividing people. No one administration is going to turn this around.

The amount of sheer, toxic hatred that has been generated by the haters is going to take a long time to overcome. (Aren't we still fighting about the Civil War?)

Kerry's attempt to keep the Democratic convention positive is a start. But what good is it really going to do with the rw broadcasting their daily "hate democrat wimp traitors," propaganda.

What's the answer? Beats me.

3. And with the haters are on the floor, Hnnity and Coulter et al, where....?
does it all end. We will have to defeat them at the polls or we will have to defeat them in the streets. No other choice.

4. Sure as hell hope it's not in the streets.
That would be a non-regional civil war. In effect, we'd end up looking like Iraq (the current one that BushCo created).

6. the best tactic would be to embrace it
Remember what they did to Dean over the scream? The very next day he should've joked about it and defused them.

7. Impossible to counter when they own the media that most people watch.
Marshall McLuhan said "The media is the message." He said it over four decades ago. And it's truer today than it was then.

Today, whatever it is we refer to as "The Media" is, for the most part owned and operated by big business's which also happen to be the owners of the Republican party.

So exactly how do we get into the "message" game?

Air America won't be strong enough in the foreseeable future.

TV is dependent on the kindness of Michael Powell's FCC (just like Blanche DuBois depended upon the kindness of strangers).

So exactly how do we defuse them?

Sorry to sound despondent, but the fascists are on the march and our reaction/response seems hopefully inadequate.

And, no, I don't know how to stop it.

9. She should tell the media to "Shove it!"
:) She could say something like: "I see the media made a big deal out of something I said yesterday. Well, I have one thing to say to the media. Shove it ! " And smile demurely....
