LTTE/childish tantrum from a Naderite/Indymedia/ANSWER-type lefty
I read this LTTE in this week's issue of the Bay Guardian, a San Francisco alternative weekly. Read it and laugh at this guy.

The tone and choice of words of his letter is quite appropriate -- it's every bit as childish as his actual politics. When I read the last few sentences, I can almost actually see the guy stamping his feet and hear him petulantly shrieking in between each word.

What progressives?

The nearer that we approach the 2004 election, the more that I feel abandoned by the area that likes to tout itself as the most progressive in the country. Walking out of Fahrenheit 9/11 to vitriolic old white men suggesting that we all need to vote Democrat, reading opinion pieces in the Bay Guardian that slam the most successful third-party candidate in decades for daring to run again, and suffering through dinner parties where everyone feels reaffirmed by everyone else's affirmation to vote Bush out of office have convinced me that my species is becoming endangered. Allow me to express what has now become heresy: I will not vote for Kerry. How about an addendum: I would not vote for Kerry if my state swung the election. And a grand finale: I will never vote Democrat for as long as I live.

2. Corey Wade: Right and Wrong
Right: The current democratic party doesn't deserve the label progressive.

Wrong: Being purist.

Sounds like Corey Wade's momma should give him a good talking to.

5. I happen to be an Indymedia/ANSWER type lefty
But that doesn't mean I'm voting for Nader.

Use a smaller brush next time, dude.

6. Exactly, using one persons rant to smear a large number of people

I've contributed to indymedia here and there so
don't try to smear everyone just because one person
writes a letter.

8. Well, you've got to admit
The guy has some points. And quite frankly, I find myself in a horrible position, having to vote in a candidate who has stated that he will continue the war in order to get rid of a candidate who has stated that he will continue the war:eyes: About the only thing that is even remotely persuading me to vote for Kerry is the Supreme Court appointments, and that Kerry is somewhat less likely to widen the war to Iran or Syria.

Other than that, I find Kerry to be simply another corporate whore, willing to sell out the American people to please his corporate masters, much like his Democratic predecessor, Clinton.

So don't get too far up on your high horse friend, after the election LOTS of people are going to be leaving the party.

9. another 'no loafer'
as in 'no loaf is better than half, or even a quarter'.

Better a teeny ledge to stand on with Kerry, than a sheer cliff from Bush.

Other than that the dude has every right to feel as he does, and I have every right to ognore him

12. Yup, that's San Francisco.
We have one of the most liberal mayors in the country, and he constantly gets accused of being a conservative for:

1) Diverting money from cash payments for the homeless into programs like shelters, housing and drug rehabilitation... for the homeless.

2) Refusing to kick every Fortune 500 company and chain with more than 10 locations nationwide out of the city.
