Another attack on Teresa
In the Jan. 13, 1976, interview with the Boston Herald American (now the Boston Herald), Heinz Kerry said she didn't trust President Richard Nixon but added, "Ted Kennedy I don't trust either."

She went on to say that she knew "some couples who stay together only for politics. If Ted Kennedy holds on to that marriage just for the Catholic vote, as some people say he does, then I think he's a perfect bastard."

Kennedy's 22-year marriage to Joan Kennedy ended in 1981. He married Victoria Reggie in 1992.

Both Kennedy and Heinz Kerry are scheduled to speak Tuesday evening at the Democratic National Convention. The Kerry campaign insisted there is no animosity between Kennedy and Heinz Kerry.

Looks like these bastards won't leave her alone.

3. 28 years is a long time
A lot can change in that time. The repubs are going on ancient history and they have to because they're scared. They went after Mrs. Vilsack for an old article, they are going after Mrs. Kerry because of this old story, and they will most likely try to dig up dirt on Mrs. Edwards in the very near future. No guts, no shame for these fabricating bastards. I think the American people are waking up to the fact that bushco. is getting desperate now.

6. Good - Let them keep attacking Kerry's wife. . . . read this
The Misunderestimation of John Kerry
Beware of this man. He's won every race that he was supposed to lose.

by Charles P. Pierce | Jun 01 '04
Esquire Magazine

<snip>

This is something else people should know about John Kerry: When you lose to him, he finishes you. Which is why it should have been a caution to the president when an anonymous Kerry advisor replied that if the White House were to go after Kerry on his divorce, or his wife's money, or some other area that Kerry deemed out of bounds, then "everything is on the table."

This should be taken as a warning to George W. Bush not only for his own predilections for bunker government but also those of his father. In the 1980s, while John Kerry was involved in investigating the complicated and obscure scandals that kept popping up out of the renegade national-security apparatus, the elder George Bush ran between the raindrops. The scandals swirled all around him, but they never quite touched him. He campaigned for president in 1988 while claiming to be "out of the loop" on the Iran-contra affair. Four years later, after he was defeated by Bill Clinton for reelection, it was revealed that contemporary notes taken by some of the Iran-contra principal actors gave the lie to that claim. Bush pardoned everyone except Shoeless Joe Jackson on his way out of town.

In 2001, almost immediately after taking office, George W. Bush took a series of actions that seemed to complete his father's legacy in this regard. First, by executive order, he sealed documents from the administrations of both his father and of Ronald Reagan—Clinton's papers got sealed along with the deal—that were due to be released and for which historians of the period had long hungered. Then he hired back a number of Iran-contra's most memorable figures, including Elliott Abrams, whom his father had pardoned, and John Negroponte. Long before the attacks of September 11, 2001, gave it irresistible momentum, a movement toward a return to bunkered government was well under way, led by some of the people with connections to both Presidents Bush, and with whom Kerry was very familiar. Now, increasingly, it seems that this election will be fought out partly in the shadowy regions between a government with secrets and a secret government, with that difference squarely on the table. That's terrain on which John Kerry has fought—at one point, quite literally—his entire public life.

13. This is EXACTLY what I took from Kerry's warning, too.
That Bush cannot STAND the scrutiny if Kerry puts "everything on the table" and they KNOW IT!

If only HALF the press would do their job, thankfully Kerry has the money for airtime on his own.

7. WHO GIVES A FLYING FUCK WHAT SHE SAID ABOUT TED?
Is Theresa running for President now?

They must be in Panic Mode...if all they can do is attack his wife, it shows they can't come up with anything negative on Kerry. And it will be even harder for them to find anything on Edwards...

But I know they'll try: In October 1972 after losing Saturday's football game, John Edwards was overheard yelling "Gosh darnit!" as he swigged a Diet Rite soda and banged his helmet against the wall. It is seen by the RNC as evidence of Senator Edward's anger problems.

10. They're going to go for blood
Look at her...proud, confident, beautiful, intelligent, and outspoken. And on top of that, she has an accent. They've started with their campaign to make her life hell, and they'll continue until after she's no longer first lady. This is going to be Hillary x 5. The RW is going to be after her blood, and the "mainstream" media are going to join in on the feeding frenzy. It's going to be ugly, gang. I don't know what we can do to help, but whatever we can, we have to do it!

Edited on Tue Jul-27-04 10:37 AM by tom_paine
The entire edifice, print, radio, TV, etc. of Goebbels v2.0 is designed to pump ou lies for laundering and jamming for any truth that manages to wind up in print.

These people go to work every dya. They have to continue inventing new lies, digging up and taking items out of contest, creating enough red herrings and nonsense to confuse anyone trying to find their way.

1. Teresa's not running for ANY public office;

2. They dug up this quote from 30 years ago. It's not like she went AWOL thirty years ago and then led a successful coup against the United States.

21. Well...
that long ago both Nixon and Kennedy were fuck up's in some areas. But let's at least be decent to Kennedy. Three brothers dead in service to this country? One sister killed in an airplane crash? Another sister brain butchered by her own father?

All those who distrusted Nixon raise your hand? Sorry, we'll break the server if we try to count all of them.

Young voters could give a shit folks.

25. I don't recall that I personally said anything negative about anyone....
...in my post except the idiot that thought he was scoring points by dredging up a quote from 30 years ago. If any older voters other than the rabid far right are giving this quote more than two seconds thought, that will be two seconds they will never get back.

Additionally, people tend to change over a thirty year period of time. The fact that Teresa has married a prominent Democrat, has changed political parties herself, and is heavily involved in helping people through charitable giving should be a clear indication of that fact. I also bet that her opinion of Ted Kennedy has changed quite a bit during those thirty years.

26. If these Cheney-ing Repugs are so scared that they have to
attack the Dem. WIVES -- then we should feel pretty good about Nov. 2. That means they've got nuthin' to bring Kerry down with. So they have to drag out old quotes from his wife from long before she WAS his wife.

Teresa, fortunately, can sure handle herself!

Shove it, Repugs!

31. Repugs are missing the history gene. Norm Coleman was a
Democrat a few years ago. So was Zell Miller. Norm Coleman said he was against ANWAR drilling and then he voted for it. Now, that is much more recent and more important in our lives than an opinion about another person made nearly three decades ago. No?

Repugs use a different honesty and logic platform than the real patriots of this country.
