Would any of the wealthy donate their tax cuts to the Federal deficit?
Would that not be the ultimate "patriotism" that so many of the RW claim to have? Let's start a whispering campaign and find out who among the top 2% would be willing to save the future for our children. This is called putting your mony where your mouth is. You know that group that Bush called his "base."

2. Bwahahahahahaha!!
You've got to be kidding! The whole raison d'etre for the corrupt Bush administration is to loot the Treasury and give it to the overrich. Why would the overrich voluntarily give any of it back? Would a bank robber go back to First Savings and say, "You know, I really only wanted to boost $50,000 from your bank, and I seem to have gotten nearly $53,000. Have some of the swag back."

Not a chance in hell.

But thanks for the laugh.

5. I would like to see OUR people do this
It would really say something if Teresa Heinz, George Soros, and a bunch of millionaires in hollywood started cutting checks to the treasury. "We don't need it...Here it is" That would be beautiful...and they would be consistent. I heard Michael Medved railing about this in Massachussets. Apparently a tax reduction passed by 600 votes...49% to 50.05%...something insanely close. When given the option to pay the old tax rate on state tax returns, only like 50 people chose to do it. I think it is hypocritical.

7. Well, not with the current makeup of our government
I have no intention of giving these crooks any more of my money than I absolutely have to. I know for a fact that they will spend it solely on armaments, oppression, torture and chaos, like they're doing now, and I don't support that.

That's why I gave away 40% of all my income (before taxes) last year, and I've given away over a third so far this year -- to reduce my tax burden, funnel money to causes and organizations that support my view of how society should function (and it's not in service of the overrich), and denied that money to the federal government.

14. Tell me this.....
Once we elect Kerry, and raise taxes back to where they were...even higher perhaps, you will be happy...but this is a democracy, and when the GOP wins again (it will happen eventually...thats how it goes), you will be paying a larger share of your income to their government as well. Are you comfortable with that?

3. Goes against their belief system
Remember, the Republican mantra is that money is better in their own pockets than in (all) our pockets.

13. Clinton isn't wealthy
Every penny he makes from his books and speeches goes to pay off his huge debt he has due to all the legal help he had to deal with the impeachment, and other crap the wing-nuts shoved at him during his office.

A lot of presidents leave the white house richer than before, but Clinton is not one of them.

:hippie:

11. much better things to do with your money
we gave all our tax cut to Dem candidates and MoveOn.com and two local charities. (Food and legal services for the poor.)
We got a hefty tax cut, 5 figures. Why give it to the Federal government so Bush can give it back to someone else who will give it to some GOP "cause" like Fox news.
