I want to go in and vote cast my vote on Nov. 2nd (my 1st presidential election - I turned 18 just after the deadline passed in 2000) but I live in Florida and do not trust the E-voting machines. I feel my vote will more likely to be counted if I do absentee ballot. What are you guys and girls gonna do this year?
the end of August - and I'm tempted to vote absentee - what is the recommendation? I will absolutely have a coranary if I go to the polls and they tell me I'm not registered or something - I have never missed an election. I live in VA and we have at least one election every year (this year there will be three - two primaries and a general) so I have voted often. I'd better be able to vote in November.
9. Presumably if there is a problem, You Wil Know When You Apply....
...for the absentee ballot and they reject the application. Do it as far in advance as possible so you have time to fight them if necessary.
Register as independent, and maybe they may be less likely to reject your application or "lose" your ballot when it arrives in the mail. (You may want to change registration after the election if that is required to vote in subsequent Democratic primaries though).
Everyone who votes absentee should check after the election to make sure they are marked down as having voted.
Certified mail might be a good idea too. Then someone has to sign for your ballot, so if they "lose" it you have evidence.
In WA, we have the option to cast all of our votes by abesentee. It's just easier for me.
I understand your mistrust of the e-voting system. It sucks that you will never have the memory of casting your first presidential vote at a polling place.
