Irony alert: Blitzer corrects Jesse Jackson, Jr. on black Senators.
Anybody catch Wolf Blitzer correct Jesse Jackson, Jr. on the number of blacks who have been senators last night? I don't remember the exact context, something about how there has been a black REPUBLICAN senator since Reconstruction. I found it incredibly ironic not just because Blitzer was chewing up precious air-time with some pedantic fact-checking that was irrelevant to Jackson's main point, but also because of the countless opportunities he has let other, more powerful pols get away with murder (not just literally, but like every time he and other media-types have let Colin Powell state with impunity that the Iraqis kicked the weapons inspectors out in 1998).

It is especially infuriating given his performance on Jon Stewart the other night, when he exculpated himself and other media-types with a sort of shrug and sigh and trademark shit-eating grin.

For that matter, I was sickened by the amount of time the media spent exculpating itself, the main argument being that the Democrats have offered such a scripted performance without any chance of controversy that it's hardly THEIR fault that they jump on anything and make a bigger deal of it than they should (e.g. Heinz-Kerry "shove it.")

Nothing new, really. One more slap in the face.

1. Blitzed.....
Yesterday he was interviewing Sen. John Breaux. The Senator said that Kerry had a good chance of carrying Arkansas Louisiana N. Carolina and Florida. Blitzed snapped at him that Florida wasn't a southern state. Please somebody help me, is Florida now located somewhere else? Has Tommy Delay moved it somewhere else.

2. Always irrelevant or pedantic on the rare occasions he criticizes.
He probably saw some map of the U.S. once that put Florida in its own region. What is amazing is that he believes it would be a point relevant enough to use air-time to mention.

3. Thanks Mountebank.....
I sometimes wonder when I'm listening to these talking heads if I'm the only one hearing this bullshit. I swear to God I heard a guy say on Faux that Shrub flew 200 missions! I'm surprised nobody on DU caught this. I guess there is so much crap flying out here that its impossible to keep up with it all. Just when I think I've heard it all they come up with something else.
