1. I can't vote b/c I didn't watch them all.
But, there were so many that I thought were great.

Joe Biden was great.
Wes Clark was wonderful.
Max Cleland touched my heart.
Al Gore was great.
John Kerry was the best, b/c his was most important.

There were lots of great ones.

version of the speech he gave here in Philadelphia.
I sat mesmerized by him last night.
He will be the next President.

3. Other-Let's not forget Clark and Biden last night
Lots to choose from I would probably say:

Kerry (because he is the nominee and his speech was the most important and he NAILED it with one critique*)
Then
Clinton
Sharpton
Obama
Clark
Carter
Biden

* the only critical thing about Kerry was that he didn't let the fired up crowd stand and cheer long enough. I understand that if he had let them go on and on the speech would have taken forever and his message would have been broken up. I DO think that he should have let them go a little longer 3-4 times especially on the headline parts.

4. what about Al sharpton? Dennis Kucinich? Rev. Allstadt (sp?)
Bill Clinton, Sharpton, Obama and Kerry were the best I heard. I missed Carter and Kucinich. Kennedy was off his game. Edwards was passable, but unexceptional.

I'd have to say Kerry overall, since the pressure was greatest on him, and he delivered a very good speech.

5. Carter gave the toughest speech
and it was delivered in such a quiet, understated manner that I think a lot of folks missed just how tough it really was.

Clinton gave the most appealing speech, pure entertainment.

Obama gave the most inclusive speech, and his style was marvelous, really raised the roof.

Sharpton (yes, him), extended his speech to mention a few of the things that really needed to be said, but weren't planned, and he was the only one outside the mainstream enough to have done it.

The whole Kerry family gave wonderful speeches, and Mrs. Kerry is an amazing lady.

Kerry gave the best speech of his life, and as an old 60s hellraiser who spent a couple of decades in Boston, I am in a position to know. It was a good speech that stood well on its own merits, and not only in comparison to earlier efforts.

This was the convention we needed; upbeat, positive, and energized. It will be interesting to see how it will play against the party exemplified by their home page http://www.rnc.org. (disclaimer: don't visit if you have easily bruised feelings or have eaten recently)

9. I didnt see any "bad" speeches
Sharpton was his usually entertaining and inspiring self. Ive alwasy liked Biden so I was predisposed to like him. But Kerry takes the honors, no doubt.

12. Sharpton
He is willing to say what no one else will and his closing comment about being an inspiration to inner-city youth, that they did not have to become hoodlums or gangsters, that they could walk with Governors and Senators, that they could run for the Presidency of the United States, that was the very best line of the convention in my opnion.

I say that as a 57-year old white man who lives in rural West Virginia, about as far from what I suspect is thought of as Al Sharpton's base as you can get.
