WE are picking up the tab for salary and expenses for 'some' of our coalition 'partners.' Some of those countries Rummy likes to cite have provided 25-75 personnel... WOW!!!

19. mercenaries in Iraq
We are paying most of the costs of the Polish troops (aka new Europe). We have also hired private companies who provide mercenary soldiers.

20. Sally Baron
Read this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=76751

excerpts:

When Sally Baron's family wrote her obituary, they described a northern Wisconsin woman who raised six children and took care of her husband after he was crushed in a mining accident.

She had moved to Stoughton seven years ago to be closer to her children and was 71 when she died Monday after struggling to recuperate from heart surgery. Her family had come to the question of what might be a fitting tribute to her.

"My uncle asked if there was a cause," her youngest son, Pete Baron, said.

Almost in unison, what her children decided to include in the obituary was this: "Memorials in her honor can be made to any organization working for the removal of President Bush."

"She thought he was a liar," Baron's daughter, Maureen Bettilyon, said. "I think his personality, just standing there with that smirk on his face, and acting like he's this holy Christian, that's what really got her."

""She'd always watch CNN, C-SPAN, and you know, she'd just swear at the TV and say 'Oh, Bush, he's such a whistle ass!' She'd just get so mad," Bettilyon said."

13. Becoming obvious that our foreign policy is delusional
Edited on Thu Aug-21-03 07:49 PM by xray s
Someone in the administration said today the growing presence of foreign terror groups in Iraq is a good thing because we can take care of them all in one place.

I think Custer once held a similar thought.

18. Glad to hear him bring up the Japanese contingent..........So far,
they'v only had advisors checking on the "safety" issue...since the Japanese forces would be trying not to get involved in any fighting because of their Constitution, although bills have been passed to allow them some arms. However, their main mission would be to bring in the technology and expertise in water treatment, which would benefit Iraqis and US soldiers....

No final decision was to be made until this fall...looks like it's in jeopardy now. The Japanese people don't want them to go anyway.
(I've been tracking this story in the WMW for the last few months....gets no press here at all, but Olbermann seems to have found out! I don't have MSNBC on the cable here, rats!!)
