"history doesn't bode well for Kerry"
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 07:14 PM by pbl
That's what Matthew Dowd, chief strtegist for the Bush campaign said.

Here:

But Matthew Dowd, chief strategist for the Bush campaign, said "history doesn't bode well" for Kerry. Since World War II, every challenger who has unseated a president has led after his convention. Link

I guess it doesn't bode well for Kerry when you get to pick and choose which poll you are going to believe or which fact you are going to apply it to.

If I may get some help here. I believe our research gurus can do the work in finding polls and imcumbent polling information to back up why history doesn't bode well, not for Kerry, but for Bush*!

1. Yeah, it's all uphill
So fight like the devil, DUers!

Ignore the fact that the incumbent has approval numbers under 50%, and huge numbers of folks who think the country's on the wrong track. Ignore the lousy employment numbers, the burgeoning deficit, the explosion in the national debt, we need to work our collective butts off.

And Matthew Dowd can find out how easy it is to find a job when Democrats are in control.

2. The way I see it
is that repugs are good at projecting and accusing their opponent of the very things they're guilty of. I know that if I take the exact opposite position of someone like this I've found the truth.

4. I went to the bush/cheney web site and sent an email to Matthew Dowd
I indicated that history does not bode well to someone who could help tens of thousands of people but does not by opposing stem cell research.

Unfortunately, I think I am on their mailing list now!

Kerry's lead is diminishing. Ooooooh. Wrong trajectory. Dog days of summer, maybe. Bush has been off the TV lately, so people forget how awful he is?

7. This is the same sort of double speak
They used when they bashed Kerry's choice of Edwards - they're afraid of him so they immediately try to sway people with supposed "facts".

8. History is even less on *'s side.
No president who won the electoral vote but not the popular one ever won a second term.

10. I think the bump is too small
I have heard that this is the lowest post-convention poll bump they have seen.

I think it is because people aleady knew our guy was in so the conservative-controlled press just looked away.

We need to work harder to get our message out!

12. too early to tell
it'll be at least the middle of next week before there's a noticeable change. but, this election's different than a lot of others... i wouldn't be surprised if there isn't much of a bounce. people seem to already be very divided and entrenched in this election and they seem to be paying attention earlier than usual, which isn't a bad thing.

11. Dowd is full of shit
Don't listen to a word he says. He is paid to put a pro-Bush spin on everything, and he'll be doing so right up until the moment Kerry takes office.

14. IT'S STILL THE ECONOMY, DUMB ASS MUTHA-FUCKER!!!!

And Bush is leading a REALLY SHITTY one. He can fake all those numbers that will keep the affluent voting for him. But you can't fool the people who are losing good jobs and then going to work for paltry wages and no benefits. You can't fool shopkeepers who see their customers fortunes waning and hence, their own. You can't tell all the previously unemployed computer, software and electrical engineers that they need to "retrain" in the high tech fields.

History says that people clearly vote with their wallet. And Bush has raped the wallets of millions of America with his disasterous policies. He has increased government spending on corporate welfare and decreased PEOPLE welfare. He has taken a record surplus and turned into a RECORD deficit.

He is the WORST president in the history of these United States. If the people's votes are counted, he will be thrown out. If the people's votes ARE NOT counted, there will be blood in the streets.

Can you smell the desperation? Can you see the little beads of sweat forming on their shiny upper lips?

20. Yeah, Bush* has done such an incredibly wonderful job
increasing jobs, keeping the U.S. safe, no terrorist attacks since he took office, more allies than ever, balance of payments deficit down, unemployment down, surplus up........HOW COULD THIS GUY BE IN TROUBLE? Why we would have to be nuts to vote for someone other than Bush* who has brought us such unparalleled peace and prosperity.

Right, Maureen????????????
