Today's word of the day is: OUTLIER
The general definition of an outlier in statistics is a value too large or too small, or too far from some other value by some criterion.

For example:

5 other polls show Kerry with a 3-11 point lead.
1 poll shows Kerry behind.

The latter is referred to as an outlier (or an aberration).

Spread the word of the day.

2. Thank You. And This "Word O' The Day" Is A Great Idea..
Wes Clark's campaign did this... and Kerry's should follow up.

Glad you took the initiative.

Outlier.

11. The one titled "Poll: No Bounce For Democrats"??
I was hoping for something showing movement. Movement is more important that lead at this point because of differing methodologies.

But seeing a six point lead is at least comforting after the Gallup baloney.

14. No, Actually It's PROPOGANDA
The Gallup poll was NOT an outlier, it was NOT an abberation. It was a deliberate, calculated attempt at disinformation and propoganda...
