Would it kill democracy to require people who run for office to fill out an application form first?

I dunno, I just can't stand listening to people discuss Arnold Schwarzenegger's 'positions' as if he is for real. Why in the name of all that is insane should he be a viable contender just because he has demonstrated extremely minimal acting skills in some of America's most mindless movies?

Oh, wait. Ronald Reagan. I forgot, there's a precedent.

I mean DAMN!

It's one thing to try to prevent celebrities from commenting on politics at all (as our friends on the right were constantly doing, before Saint Arnold appeared to them). I'm not suggesting there's no place for actors in politics. I'm just sayin', if you are an actor, and you want to run for governor, fine, but fill out this application first indicating what kind of experience you have.

I mean, work up to it, man! Start with a town, or something.

Or if we must have beefcake running for governor, does the press HAVE to take this guy seriously? Every time I hear his voice on the radio trying to make it sound like he knows what he's doing, I flinch.

Oh, wait, no, that's George W. I forgot, there's a precedent.

AUGH!

Grump,

The Plaid Adder

2. You just reminded me of something I saw last night.
Biography on Tom Hanks. Steven Spielberg was talking about Hanks, saying what a great guy he is, that he is a humanitarian, gives to charities, holds deep political beliefs, very comitted, etc. He said that he would love to see him become president someday.

Tom Hanks - I might even be able to go for that.
