Why all of the Statue of Liberty coverage??

3. OKay, that's what puzzled me.

I thought that I had heard that it had been closed since 9/11. But it didn't quite register. I just found it odd that if they are on one of their highest alerts yet, they would open the Statue of Liberty, while closing down other buildings, because of terrorism. Wouldn't they at least want to keep it closed for the duration of this alert?

5. Ooohhhh, well that makes sense doesn't it?

Could they be more transparent? So they open a potential terrorist target, the same week they are closing down down other parts of New York, for a presidential speech, making the statue an even bigger target?
