7. big dog's gotta have mixed emotions about
the state of the country. On the one hand, his policies are vindicated with each passing day of the Smirk admin. OTOH, as a true patriot, it must just eat him up to see the greatest nation in history in her death throes. We miss you, big dog! Should've been named president for life.

48. Two Alpha Males
Maybe it's just that simple. Once (many years ago) my old boy friend dropped by my apartment unexpectedly while my new boy friend was there. I remember it so clearly, because I was so uncomfortable. They were so polite. So tense. This interview reminded me of that.

of ex-presidents that they don't attack another president or ex-president. His policies are fair game, but you don't attack them personally.

BTW, did you notice the spontaneous applause on the mention of the Democratic National Convention?

19. Don't flip out! I've noticed this about Clinton lately....
He never directly slams the shrub, but if you listened to everything he said, he continued with I think the most serious problem we have is Bin Laden, and we need to put more emphasis in Afghan to get him. He managed to get the slam to W on diverting to Iraq without a direct hit!

He's really good at this.

During the Clinton Inquisition, there were several times Poppy was interviewed and avoided discussions on any topics Clinton...even in 2000, he was very, very muted.

Who cares what Rove thinks or says...is he the head of the Democratic party? Just let him play his tricks and we shine lights on it. No need to lower ourselves to be just like Repugnicans.

Bill can carve an opponent into cuts of meat and he won't know till he sees the blood dripping on the floor.

But what I loved was the way he took Kerry's Senate record and explained it as a thing of beauty and true dedication.

13. Dave is always willing to have a serious discussion.
And he's really letting the Big Dog run! And while the Big Dog realizes the crowd loves him, he's willing to talk about the issues, and how the Democrats' plans are superior to the Republicans'.

He's saying he doesn't think the timing of the Orange Alert is political, but adds we really need to concentrate our troops in Afghanistan, so we can keep on al-Qaeda.

22. Bill's making the point that one of the terror threats his admin.
thwarted was based on old information. So, he thinks it's OK to disseminate information a few years old. However, how he's making the leap from that to "it's definitely not political," I'm not sure.

Maybe it's true about Bill & Hill ... perhaps deep inside they hope Bush wins so Hill will have a shot in 2008. Maybe that's why Bill's playing along.

Don't flame me, please. I love the Big Dog ... but he does seem to like Bush more than a man with his intelligence should.

26. Hey I luv Big Dawg too, but he's a centrist, thinks limiting civil
liberties is okay, is for WTO, globalization, and those
things I can't agree with him on....

a lot of his ideas are almost republican - and he got away
with it because he was adored....

a lot of the stuff like Naftaa and free trade has really
screwed Americans....and Bill pushed them...

So it's not that he likes dimson, but his beliefs are 1/2 way
republican...

has nothing to do with pushing Hillary for Pres.

Those beliefs of Bill's were disappointing when he was Prez
and still are.....globalization sucks for working Americans

46. the joke didn't have anything to do with Clinton
it was about Kerry performing CPR on a hamster (a story one of his daughters told at the convention) and then something like, "didn't I hear something about Richard Gere doing that, too?" (in reference to old rumors about Gere's alleged sexual proclivities).

There were no Clinton jokes in the monologue last night (but there was a bush joke)

They want Kerry elected and they want Bush gone. Believe it. Are they ambitious? Hell yes. That's what it takes to be a great leader.

Do they put their ambitions ahead of their love of country? Hell no. That's just a freeper talking point based on not a single fact.

They're talking about stuff that happened today. I.E. the information that last weekend's terror alert was based on is four years old.

Letterman joked earlier in the show that Bush just now got around to reading it.

41. Something was bothering Clinton
He definitely wasn't his usual jovial self.

He's got very thick skin at this point, so I doubt it was something anyone said or did before the show.

He still does get daily intelligence briefs from the CIA, so maybe with this 'new' info, there is something that really has him concerned?

49. You misunderstood me
I want him out there for Kerry big time this fall. Gore would be in the WH if he'd used him. However appearing on entertainment shows like Letterman and SNL is not the way an ex-Prez should behave. I recently read a Vanity Fair article on BC and basically he is spreading himself too thin and it diminishes his effectiveness if he's everywhere. Some of his closest advisors are telling him to chill out a little - but he can't. We are in agreement on the need for JK to use him this fall.

50. apologies...
WJC will be out there big time for Kerry, no doubt about it.

Meanwhile, I think his appearance on Letterman holds more significance than can be rationalized (by us) at this time. Speculation by VF articles or anyone else micromanaging BC's time is not a good fit of an unknown equation. We are not aware of the information BC is privy to from his daily CIA briefings. He knows more than we do about what is going on behind the scenes. I trust his judgment.

Here's what we do know...Bush has painted himself into a corner. I won't go into the litany of crimes and offenses at this time. I'm sure you are already aware of his grievous transgressions against the people and this country. He is a criminal. When criminals are cornered they are desperate and dangerous. They have nothing to lose, so they might as well take as many people with them as they can on their way down. Rather than relinquish power, they simply don't care about living the rest of their lives in shame and disgrace.

Bush did give a curious response when a reporter asked how history will view his presidency...he remarked: "I don't know, we'll all be dead."

We may be teetering on this point in time...
