The U.S. Military and the shrub.
I live in Korea and hang out with many members of the military. They run a fairly full gamut of political ideologies, from the rather conservative to the rather liberal. Some of them have come back from Afghanistan recently. Most are republicans. What I find interesting is the number of them who say they wouldn't vote for shrub under any circumstances. When I asked one guy, who is a Major, has been in the Army for 18 years and has voted repuke in all presidential elections since 1984 (his first election), "What if shrub was running against Hitler?" He said, "I'd vote for Hitler. He's dead and bush is brain dead."

1. Don't most of the overseas military votes unfortunately go to Florida
to be counted?

I remember during the 2000 fiasco the RW screaming, "we haven't counted the military votes yet!" in Florida.

Florida is screwed up on multiple levels when it comes to counting votes fairly and accurately.

3. My understanding on all absentee ballots are...
They go to the registrar of voters in your county. I vote overseas absentee and as I recall my ballot always is pre-addressed to the Clerk of the County I'm from.

5. A lot of military votes go to FL because
service members that have been stationed there take that opportunity to become a FL resident and avoid paying state taxes. My husband will be voting absentee in Florida this year, even though we only lived there for two years.
