Vietcong torpedo boats launch an unprovoked attack against the U.S.S. Maddox, while the destroyer is patrolling the Gulf of Tonkin. Except that it's only a hoax. Regardless, the Congress responds by passing the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, authorizing President Johnson "to take all necessary measures to repel any armed attack against the forces of the United States and to prevent further aggression." It took ten years and 50,000 American lives to realize that it was just the U.S. arms manufacturer's quest for the American dream.
Will we ever learn what the rest of the world already knows...No one is trying to invade us and take over our country, and when a politician says they are....IT'S A LIE.
When a politician mentions "National security", everything said after that phrase....IS A LIE.
