The "tax relief" meme has moved beyond politics...

New ballpark gets old name: Busch Stadium

Anheuser-Busch Cos. Inc. has secured the naming rights for the Cardinals' new stadium, meaning the city will have a new ballpark with a familiar name: Busch Stadium.

<snip>

It is not clear how much Anheuser-Busch will pay for the naming rights.

The new stadium is scheduled to open in 2006 and cost about $387 million. The new downtown stadium, with a capacity of 46,000, will occupy space overlapping and just south of the current stadium.

<snip>

A naming rights agreement was part of the Cardinals' plan to repay the $200 million in bonds sold related to the construction of the ballpark. The team paid $90 million toward the ball park, and the rest of the funding is through tax relief from the state, city and St. Louis County.

4. What do you think of this statement:
Rightwing nutcase: "Bringing tax relief to millions!"

My new response: "Yeah, relief from drivable roads, relief from edible foods, relief from drinkable water, relief from breathable air, relief from children running loose in the streets..."

5. Always been Busch Stadium
And August A. Busch IV has endorsed Kerry. I don't like these stadium tax relief things either, but it isn't limited to St. Louis or Anheuser Busch.
