Evan Thomas needs to be ripped a new one
I had the misfortune of watching this Newsweek flunky on Imus's show this morning. The number of lies coming from his mouth was truly amazing. After sucking up to Imus, he began by saying that the war in Iraq was making us safer.

Then he went on to say that the attacks on Kerry's war record by the so-called "Swift-boat Veterans for Truth" was hurting Kerry. Maybe, maybe not, but he then went on to say that John O'Neill was not a Republican political operative (so he never visited Nixon, huh?)!

Thomas also claimed that veterans were grumbling that Kerry got out of Vietnam early. Of course, he did not mention that Kerry had already spent a tour in Vietnam before his second tour was cut short due to the standard practice of sending any military personnel who had been wounded three times stateside.

I am sick to death of people like Evans (who admits he was safely in college when Kerry was in Vietnam) who never served bashing Kerry's record. I am also sick of people bashing Kerry when they prop up Bush, who couldn't even fulfill his duties in the champagne units of Texas and Alabama.

If anyone else feels this way, send Evans a few nasty words at the following link:

God, I hate these people.

2. ??????
Sorry, I don't follow. The only person I know of who was ever called "Bubba" is Clinton. Are you saying that Thomas kisses up to Clinton?

3. That Beltway snob irritates the hell out of me --
He used to be, I think, a liberal, but he has been running away from that label (and, I suppose, his grandfather, the Socialist Norman Thomas) like his life -- or rather his bank account -- depended on it. The people who make me angriest are the ones who know better, and have simply sold themselves to the highest bidder.

4. I heard him too!
He infuriated me--he said that the Swift Boat group had a solid argument against Kerry--he didn't bother to mention (and Imus didn't bother to call him on it) that these people "served" with Kerry in the sense that they all happened to be in Vietnam at more or less the same time!

5. Both of Them Irked the cheenee, but at Least IMUS Called Him on Something
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 08:56 AM by UTUSN
IMUS opened by asking, "What do you make of the swift boat vets?"

THOMAS went on about how "This is trouble for KERRY." And he repeated all the not-so-swifter talking points, that JK "scratched himself" yadda yadda. He went on for a minute or two. Then ANUS said something sort of stopping him, and THOMAS said, "Well, you asked me if this was trouble for KERRY..."

ANUS said, "No, I asked you what do you MAKE of it and YOU said it was trouble." So THOMAS goes, "Well, it IS trouble..." THOMAS recited NO FACTS, just repeated the lying talking points.

Then later cheeneeing ANUS spent about 15 minutes yammering about how the Amtrack train passes for four miles onto his cheeneeing "ranch" and how the KERRY-EDWARDS campaign train passed by there and ANUS somehow imagines that they had an obligation to stop and let his slave-kids wave at them. He went to ridiculous lengths to make the demand to stop the train, called BROKAW to find out who the NBC person on the train was, then to get that person to name a KERRY contact person. He kept running his idiot mouth about how the JK staff were so incompetent that the demand for the train to stop was screened out, saying that if JK won these incompetent staffers would be running the country.

Oh, it turns out that one of the kids "broke an arm while roping." Sounds like negligence to me, the whole shebang of making kids do ridiculous chores.

6. Imus is supposed to be pro-Kerry
But the most of his comments about Kerry are negative, and he never defends Kerry from the attacks from the right-wing sycophants he surrounds himself with. With friends like these.....

9. He's a Clown, Certainly Not OUR Friend
It's all schtick, anything to get a rise out of people. I do NOT understand what the status it is for the beltway tools to play footsie with this jerk.

7. Here's My E-mail to the Jerk
Today on the Don IMUS show, Evan THOMAS did nothing but recite the talking points of the anti-KERRY vets. He provided NO substantives, just recited the falsities. Even IMUS called him on it when THOMAS said, "You ASKED me if it was TROUBLE for KERRY," and IMUS said, "I asked WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF IT and YOU said it was trouble." With THOMAS providing free advertising, the Shrub campaign has nothing to worry about.

8. "With THOMAS providing free advertising, the Shrub campaign has nothing
to worry about." I like that. We have to keep the so-called liberal media's feet to the fire, or they will think they have a free pass to spread right-wing crap.

12. Unfortunately, They Pay No Attention
I have a plastic storage bin full of e-mails sent to the media whores since the time of the FAKE impeachment. Notice any difference?

And the other day Judy WOODRUFF said, "While we want interaction from the viewers, like e-mail, TO A CERTAIN EXTENT, we can't let them dictate our coverage." So there.
