O'Lielly versus Krugman! Up next on FAUX
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 07:20 PM by NightOwwl
Wonder if he'll edit out Krugman's comment:

"It's not your show. You can't cut my mike!"

3. Yes he did. O'Reilly was his usual verbally abusive self. Krugman was
calm, collected and said what needed to be said.

19. I thought so too, he was shaking etc... but he still maintained a calm
composure and a command of the issues, even under the circumstances.

O'Reilly is 6'4" from what I understand. He's a professional bully, and should be shunned if you ask me.

24. It reminds me of that great Scott Adams (Dilbert) quote:
"There are two kinds of people in the world: People like you and me, and people who can beat the crap out of people like you and me."

Dem commentators really need to learn how to deal with the second variety better.

14. Hmmmm, who I am I going to listen to regarding economics?
Paul Krugman:

B.A. from Yale University in 1974 and his Ph.D. from MIT in 1977. He has taught at Yale, MIT and Stanford. At MIT he became the Ford International Professor of Economics. He is currently at Princeton

or this guy:

He graduated with a degree in history from Marist College, with a Master's Degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University, and attained another Master's in Public Administration from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government.

Also, visit Paul's websites -- he is one funny guy!!

http://web.mit.edu/krugman/www/

http://www.pkarchive.org/ (this has the transcript from Russert)

http://www.wws.princeton.edu/~pkrugman/

excerpt:

"Welcome to my home page. The main purpose of this page is to give interested parties - students, colleagues, journalists, mad bombers, etc. - easy access to some of my more recent writings. For the time being the links in this page lead for the most part to less-formal writing, mainly for nonprofessional publications. I have started, however, to put some pieces that do contain equations into a new section, "Stuff that is harder to read". (I also maintain a listing, in reverse chronological order, of what's new on this page)."

Yes, I admit I LOVE PAUL KRUGMAN!!!
(As an aside, I believe he was also in the Reagan administration)

He gives Bill the rope and lets him hang himself with it.

15. I liked the "quasi-murderer" retort.
And I did think he was a bit nervous about O'Reilly coming at him physically. O'Reilly looked like every stupid schoolyard bully you've ever heard about or witnessed. When name-calling didn't work, he went for physical intimidation. Krugman, to his credit, stuck with facts and wit, and didn't cave at all to the O'Reilly act.

18. Is there a link to this online?
As much as it will raise my blood pressure I want to see how calm Krugman was. It seems when guys like O'Rielly getting all worked up, the calmer you stay, the more worked up they get.

34. Amp up O'Reilly; Make him explode with rage at losing an argument
Wind him up.

A really good way to deal with bullies like that is to publicly make them lose control (keeping in mind personal safety). Make him explode with rage at losing an argument.

22. Replay of entire segment on CNBC, right now!
O'Reilly is such a huge, smarmy, whiny bully. He has ZERO facts, all snide innuendo and outrageous, baseless claims. It's really incredible to watch.

23. I Hate to say this....
but O'Reilly is monopolizing the debate. Krugman needed to do a little screaming here. He should've at least said, "Shut up Bill".

Not that he needs them, but he should get some tips from Eric Alterman before doing that show! God, would I love to see Eric and Paul gang up on one of these guys.
