dKos: Bush is losing it
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 11:26 PM by iconoclastic cat
The following is from dKos:

Bush is losing it
by kos

It's bad enough he has to campaign in Virginia, supposedly solid Red territory. But then, he follows up with yet another "gaffe":

Bush also said high taxes on the rich are a failed strategy because "the really rich people figure out how to dodge taxes anyway."

Right... Obviously a notion from personal experience.

A Kerry guy in Virginia hit this softball out of the park:

Asked about that comment, Jonathan Beeton, spokesman for Kerry's campaign in Virginia, said "George Bush can speak with authority about really rich people. ... That's his base, so I'm sure he knows what he's talking about. But that doesn't make it right."

Here's a better idea -- tax those most able to pay for it, close loopholes, increase penalties for tax cheats, and strengthen enforcement. That way, Bush's friends won't be able to dodge taxes.

But whatever. Abolish the speed limit because people speed anyway. Abolish drug laws because people do drugs anyway. Eliminate murder statutes because people kill people anyway.

Damn that man says stupid things!
****

He sure does. Yet, people seem more eager to jump on Kerry for speaking in complex terms about complex issues. **Sigh.**

11. Bush will have to debate Kerry
He'll look even more weak and incompetent if he doesn't debate, than if he did.

15. agree
I've been wondering if the "election" will be decided before W has to attempt a debate. There's no way he'll debate Kerry.

There will be some "event" that will save Jr., just like there has always been.

12. So they no longer have to break the law
dodging taxes. Much of the Bush base are wealthy crooks.

14. Someone please tell me WHY Kerry isn't using these gaffs in commercials?
Rather than just go negative in his ads with a voiceover or the like, I think it would be FAR more effective to just run three short clips back-to-back:

1.) UNITY speech gaff (re-affirms his dumbass status)
2.) Virginia speech gaff (reinforces his rich/out-of-touch status)
3.) Mission Accomplished speech (underscores the inexperience and Iraq debacle)

Then, a voiceover would come in at the very end and say something to the effect, "fit to lead?"
