The future belongs to freedom, not fear!
I really was moved by this line in Kerry's speech and while I know the message was addressed to terrorists, I also think it was more profound -- it was partly aimed at this administration and the atmophere of fear it has caused.

While the threat of terrorism is indeed real, this administration has dealt with the issue in the most cynical, disgusting way possible.

They have exploited (and plan to moreso in their convention), the tragedy of 9/11. They have used the city of NY as a political prop.

They have used the threat as an excuse to make our society LESS free and democratic, all the while claiming these terrorists hate us for our freedom!

I'm fearing that people don't even have a CONCEPT of democracy. It baffles my mind that people can claim to love the PRINCIPLES by which the constitution of this nation was founded on, yet support the dismantling of it.

2. Give them 4 more years and we'll be faced with "Generation F"

Generation F, the FEAR Generation.

Think of all the people in this country coming into adulthood (and voting age) by 2008 who will have only known the culture of fear, violence, and intimidation- thanks to the Bush Regime. They, as a group, will be more easily manipulated than previous generations who had at least an opportunity to experience a free society. Think of all the ignorance present in what was up until recently a relatively free society. I can't imagine what sort of ignorant, stupid conformity we will witness in "Generation F."

A person who was 15 years old in 2000 will be 23 years old in 2008. Can you imagine the damage done by 8 years of Dubya as seen through the lens of 8 years of cable news? Shit, by 2008 people will be so conditioned to fear and intimidation that advertisers will be using those tactics to sell products. I feel like I'm living through some sort of science fiction nightmare.

3. That is the choice in this election.
I'm not sure people will choose freedom over fear because fear is irrational. They cannot rationalize "freedom".
